Dreaming of Unicorns

Dreaming of Unicorns

The Lazy Titan finally stirred. He'd been sleeping under a single star in the desert for eight years; like Odin, each year of sleeping rejuvenated him, causing him to grow stronger and stronger with each passing year. He has been dreaming of a unicorn both day and night. A promising young unicorn that could take point on any attack, guard him at night, run faster than any horse, and pass through any defensive barrier was all he had ever dreamed about.

Before he fell asleep, he'd heard rumors through the ages that a young, wild, fully powered unicorn existed somewhere. While he has never seen a unicorn in the wild, he has seen trained, tamed, older unicorns. He had seen other demi gods with them from time to time. But finding a demi-god willing to part with their unicorn is laughable.

He has often seen old weather and aged unicorns with barely any magic left in their being. He once thought he'd found one. He bought it. Only to be horrified the following night when the unicorn returned to its true form, an ugly aged Hor. That "unicorn" was not at all what he was expecting.

In the wee hours of the morning, before the wild horses run free through his desert, the LazyTitan finally woke. Partly out of insomnia and partly out of anticipation. He knows the Gods of the Wild Run will look down favorably on him today. Every year during "The Wild Run," he is blessed with a strong war-horse. Never a unicorn but always a sturdy, strong war-horse. The "wild run" gods always looked favorable on the Titan.

Not all the Gods looked down on the Lazy Titan as favorably. The "Gods of the Promiseland" have always hated him. The "Gods of the Promiseland" have never let him visit their Promiseland and have refused him entrance until he completes an un-accomplishable feat. Other demi-gods come and go as they please, but not the Titan. Never the Titan. He will only be allowed to enter once he sits atop a unicorn.

The morning of "The Wild Run", the demi-god of fire pays the Lazy Titan a visit. He offers him a chance at a unicorn during this year's run if he will part with his true love and never love another woman again. He must become cold and ruthless. If willing to do that, he will be granted a CHANCE to capture the unicore during "The Wild Run."

He agrees, and the demi-god of fire and warmth shows him the path the unicorn may take to come down. He lay in wait in the brush, hoping the unicore would take this path. But, instead of a unicorn, a magnificent, fiercest, and glorious stallion trots down the path. This horse is one fit for battle and the strongest the Titan has ever seen. He might even be strong enough to allow the Titan to defy the "Gods of the Promiseland." The stallion is so majestic that he thinks he may be able to trick the "Gods of the Promiseland" by strapping a sword to its head, calling it a unicorn, and seeing if the Gods of the Promiseland even notice.

He names this glorious creature "Stewart" in remembrance of his lost love.

The Lazy Titan has been thwarted by the Gods of the Promiseland one too many times and is now conspiring to defy the gods and break into their land without the unicorn; by his force of will, he may break in and smash their little land that they have so neatly ordered. Or he may still try to be a good and proper Titan and find that unicore, ask permission, and be granted entrance in the Promiseland- as the other demi-gods do. But one way or another, he will find his way to the Promiseland.
