New Season, New Pistons?

Hello errrybody! It’s GM Ian Quailmen here. We are back! After a season of overachieving, the Pistons are back with a somewhat new look. Not really, but a lot of names who played major minutes for us last season are no longer here. Trey Murphy, Ej Liddell, and Harold Schiff are among notable departures. I’m disappointed we couldn’t retain any of these 3 but understand that sometimes financials don’t work out. But not all change is bad.

We managed to get a player we’ve coveted for ages in Fabian Hub, one of the most versatile and athletic players in the league! He can absolutely outwork anyone on the court and we are so thrilled to have him on the team.

We didn’t have much else go right for us in Free Agency though. Got a little bit of depth, but this could be another yer of growth for our young core. Lauri is looking great B-Carr had a stellar camp. Bridges is coming off a career year and looks to further improve.

Excited to see how things turnout this season…

Questions!

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: If UFA worked like RFA, would you have matched any of the contracts for Trey Murphy, Harold Schiff, or EJ Liddell?

Great question, I think Trey Murphy I would match. It’s a little more than I’d like to pay, but if you can make him someone who can stay on the court more… then he could maybe be something special

Dill Doe, Nintendo: Rumor has it that your youngest prospect, Cortez Davis, is being trained by his older brother, J.D. Davis of the San Francisco Giants, in the basement of their childhood home. How do you feel about these outsiders penetrating and infiltrating your team from within? Are you going to take action against J.D. Davis, who batted .248 with 12 home runs and 35 RBI in 2022?

You brought up your love of Mr. Hub but the rumor mill is churning and stating that you've actively been shopping the 2x champion already. What would it take to pry him away? And what is the thought behind shopping him?

He was a surprise signing for us, but definitely not someone we'd be looking to just give away. As mentioned in the trade block, it'd take a player on a rookie deal with blue potential and more than 2 years to even have us pause and consider. But it would definitely need to be more than that. We are talking about a player that can defend 5 positions on the court and be a complete mismatch game disrupter. There are a few contenders that are ONE PIECE away... and Hub would be that piece.
