#SLOE: People's Basketball Sim League

Darth Vegito: Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you for joining us today. As you know, I am the newish General Manager of the Pelicans, and I'm excited to address all your questions about the recent off-season moves and our expectations for the upcoming season. Let's get started.

Jen Hale: Hi, Darth. Can you explain the thought process behind the risky trades you made during the off-season?

Darth Vegito: Certainly, Jen. Our objective this off-season was to create a roster that can compete at the highest level and bring a championship to our city. While we understood the risks associated with the trades, we firmly believed that to achieve greatness, we had to make bold moves. These trades allowed us to acquire some key players that we believe will complement our existing talents and strengthen our team in crucial areas.

Jim Eichenhofer: Darth, some experts have criticized these trades, saying you gave up too many assets. How do you respond to these criticisms?

Darth Vegito: Jim, I respect the opinions of experts and fans alike. We are aware that these trades involved parting ways with some valuable assets, but we carefully weighed the potential benefits and risks. Building a championship contender requires calculated risks, and we are confident that our newly acquired players will make a significant impact on the court. Our front office and coaching staff conducted extensive research and analysis before finalizing these deals.

Will Guillory: The media has labeled these moves as "win-now" trades. What pressure do you feel to succeed in the upcoming season?

Darth Vegito: The term "win-now" implies that we are solely focused on immediate success. While we are certainly aiming to compete at the highest level this season, we also have a long-term vision for sustained success. Every decision we make is intended to position our team for both immediate competitiveness and long-term growth. Of course, we recognize the pressure that comes with being a contender, but it also motivates us to work harder and strive for greatness.

Jake Madison: With these new additions, how do you think the team chemistry will develop on the court?

Darth Vegito: Team chemistry is a crucial aspect of any successful basketball team. We are confident that our coaching staff will work diligently to integrate the new players seamlessly into our existing system. During the off-season, we emphasized team-building activities and player interactions to foster a positive and cohesive atmosphere. It may take some time for the players to fully gel, but we believe that with their talent and professionalism, they will form a strong bond and play together cohesively on the court.

Scott Kushner: Can you share any updates on player injuries or other health concerns going into the training camp?

Darth Vegito: As of now, we are fortunate to have a relatively healthy roster. Our medical staff has been working diligently to keep our players in peak condition. However, as we all know, injuries are a part of the game, and we will continue to monitor the players' health closely during training camp and throughout the season. Our focus is on providing top-notch medical support and ensuring that our players are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.

Jen Hale: With the upcoming season just around the corner, what message do you have for the fans?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Training Camp hit the Pelicans pretty hard as Terrance Lewis-Weeks, Richie Cuevas, and Tony Hinshaw look to have been slowed down by the Sim Reaper. What roles do you see these players having on the Pelicans this season, and do you think their productivity will live up to your expectations and their contracts?

Hinshaw will probably still start. Although he did take a pretty hard hit, I think he's still the best option we have at the 5. I wouldn't expect 36 minutes, but he'll start. Hopefully Jalen can learn a thing or two. As far as Weeks and Cuevas...we'll see what they have left in the tank. They came into training camp out of shape so I'm guessing I'll end up giving up some of their minutes to some of the younger guys. I hope they live up to their contracts, but that is up to them ultimately.

GWR: Your history as a GM in this league is extensive and successful, yet plagued by short bursts. What can you do to ensure that this is not just another 2-3 season run?

The best way to do that would be to make sure I am patient and follow thru with training Delmer, Carrasco, Griner.......shit.

Do you see opportunities to make further trades? Have you stayed active in the market since training camp?

There is maybe a move or two I see now. But I'm going to wait a few sims, see what we look like and then reevaluate. We have options, just won't be sure of the direction until we see what this current team is.
