Simputer got this one right. Herb Jones propelled the Pacers to 61 wins in a way that no player on any other 60+ win team did. He ran a line of about 25 points, over 10 assists, and 7.6 boards, which is about as close to a triple double as you're going to get this side of basketball reality. His Estimated Wins (26 and change) Added was higher than 6 entire teams. Without Jones, the Pacers would be on the outside of the playoffs looking in with about 35 wins. No other player made quite the impact this season.

Herb Jones is the clear favorite but let me at least give Genaro Montoya his flowers too. At the ripe age of 35, Montoya single-handedly carried a bottom-5 team last season into the postseason this year. The Grizzlies' entire identity centered around Montoya and he managed to carry the load, night in and night out. Montoya earned All-Star honors all while playing at an above average efficiency rate, which is particularly unusual given his age. With a 17 EWA, the Grizzlies would have only finished around 25 wins and been in the running for another top 5 pick. If you remove Herb Jones from the Pacers, you have a scrappy team that just misses the playoffs. If you remove Montoya from the Grizzlies, you have the Cleveland Cavaliers.

I'm glad this thread was reactivated, because these playoffs have been very, very interesting. There's one or two obvious mentions, and I'm taking one of them:

Victor Wembanyama

This nomination will forego regular season chatter, because Vic was good but he has solidified his MVP caliber play in the playoffs.

Is the AD MVPOTY relative to only the regular season? We'll let the voters decide. Check this out. In these playoffs, Wemby has the highest score per game of any player still in the playoffs. Wow. Has more rebounds than anyone else who played in the playoffs - full stop - and is seconded only by his teammate, Kelel Ware, and followed in a distant third by the Bulls Ken Dirks of players still playing. Top 3 blocker (again, #1 blocker of players remaining). Also? He's in the top 15 3P%. As a big man.

This guy seriously deserves your consideration for AD MVP.
