Tough question... but I do want to note another starting ASG appearance by Johnny Davis. Will this guy ever stop being a playoff player? Before he's what, 32 or 33? Probably not. In a previous town hall I could not decide to put on my team- Johnny Davis or Safi. Well, this is Davis's 5th ASG in 6 seasons, and Safi's 3rd in 5 seasons. I'm not trying to diss Safi (even though he sucks at PF, apparently), but Johnny Davis has been a top 4 in the league for a long time, and I think he's solidifying his spot as the #1 SG in the league for a generation. Raphael Gordon is having himself a season, sure (and Vaughn Millsap? He an SG?), and Richie Cuevas and Gerald Dixson are great there, too, but I think Davis is pulling away.
(I see now that AB is sitting across the court from Johnny Davis, so, touche. But, AB has played many a spot in his career, and is strong enough to battle Centers even though he's a shorty there.)

I think the All-Star roster for the Alpha Conference is interesting. Mostly because I think there's a very strong case that the first 5 listed off the bench would give the starting 5 the business in a 7-game series. Well, maybe just that they'd win. 4 of the 5 starters are on losing teams (Blazers getting two of them). Kim is a past-his-prime defensive wizard also doubling as the only scoring option on an awful team so he gets to stat pad. Lomax is a fantastic player on a team without another top-end option as well. Williams and Garland, again awesome, but numbers are inflated slightly because they have 0 depth so they are playing insanely high minutes. Antonio Blakeney is legit and deserves all of the accolades he gets. Really, all these guys are putting up numbers of their spot. However ...
The backup 5?
C: Victor Wembanyama
PF: Gerry Folse
SF: Saddiq Bey
SG: Herb Jones
PG: Safi Fino-A-Laself
AB is a physical freak and maybe putting this kind of talent around him would carry his starting group to a victory. However, I'd say that Herb is a very solid matchup for him to at least put some strain on him because he's also a great athlete and can attack in multiple ways. Bey might be slower now but he's no less dangerous and Williams might get put in the spin cycle. Lomax and Folse would be a great matchup but one guy is on a 6 Finals MVP run for a reason. I believe at this point in their careers, Wembanyama is making easy work of Kim. Safi/Garland is a battle of 2 very different players. Speed and athleticism and court vision vs. Power, patience, and bully ball.
B-Team in 6!

I’m going to drink from the Piss-ton Koolaid and say
Nicholas Zike.
While all the guards selected in front of him should be there. He has been playing great as Detroit’s PG. He is averaging a double double and has a championship pedigree, coming from Memphis last season. He fouls a bit, but it’s the ASG so who cares. I know if I was Doug I’d be mad that another PG, who is really a SG, over Zike. It is Vaughn who is his own player though, so if that is the only consolation.

I think the most obvious snub that stands out for me is Raphael Gordon (
http://pbsl.ijbl.net/players/player178.htm)
He's not filling too many other categories in the stat sheet, but he's 2nd in the league in scoring with a 28.7 ppg average. Meanwhile, Kyle Kuric's auxiliary stats might be a rebound and a couple assists higher, but he's only averaging 20 ppg. Gordon's stats are a little emptier, playing as the clear best option on the Cavs, but I still put him in there. Cleveland could use it.

Tough question but I think Darrell Hackney should have made the Omega All Star team ahead of Genaro Montoya
As the leading rebounder in the league, Hackney is having a career year. He is the #4 option on a top-heavy Trailblazers team and still manages to deliver every night. He is averaging 16/13 per game along with 2 blocks. This is an incredible output for such a young player. He is a special talent that should be recognized for his great season. I expect him to make future All Star teams with ease.

We really need some more variety in the dunk contest and 3-point shootout.
We have been seeing the same folks for years now, and I think it is time for fresh blood. And where is the love for the big man? Give
Talen Horton-Tucker and
Fabian Hub a shot to jump over a Kia Optima. And what about some of the younger guys like
Justin Amos or
Ron Harper Jr? No shade to the actual participants, I just want to open the field some more.
And in the 3PT shootout, where is
Ervin Armitage?

Look, assists get so overlooked in this game, but Zike not even making it as an alternate is appalling. He's a top end PG in this league and should've easily made it. But as we know, this game loves to overweigh points... but everyone knows that one of the most important things to have in an all star game is a floor general PG. Who else is going to throw those incredible passes and lobs to the other superstars in the league? JUST MY $.02.

Jaden akins being hurt is BS. Also Jaden akins not making the all star team is BS. Anas Mahmoud should have been taken over Wemb. The fact that the sun's had no all star players, no 3 point shootout players with how this offense and individual statlines have looked is a joke. The suns continuously get overlooked but that's alright. The program and every owner in this league are on notice. We cooking something special in the desert. Don't you worry. End rant
