S63 Grizzlies: The Grindfather Strikes Again

Good morning everyone,

Three seasons ago I stood right here promising the city of Memphis a championship. And just like FedEx, the Grizzlies delivered ahead of schedule. Everyone was ready to hand the Chicken Nuggets the keys to the Omega Kingdom and coronate the next dynasty over in La La Land but little did they know that in Bluff City we call out bullshit all day, every day.

I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to recognize and congratulate the S62 team for their selflessness and willingness to sacrifice individual accolades for the sake of the greater collective good. This past season, the Grizzlies featured zero All-Stars, zero All-League players, zero All-Defense players, and zero votes for GM of the Year. This team was overlooked. This team was disrespected. And this team did not forget. In Memphis, we collected grievances just as much as we collected wins. It is a rare sight to see a team come together in such a manner to achieve a common goal. But when it did, the league finally had to face reality. The S62 Grizzlies are, were, and will forever be the greatest defense ever built.

But as we look ahead, the elephant in the room should also be acknowledged. I promised Memphis a title at any cost. So the Grizzlies spent. And spent. And spent some more. I have no regrets. Tax bills come and go. Championships are forever.

Fast forward to S63. The luxury tax will be reset. And we have brought in a lot of new faces to Memphis. The Grizzlies are especially excited to welcome the incoming rookie class, particularly David Brown who has taken our blue-collar approach to heart and improved his defensive game tremendously during camp. The next few seasons will be rough for Grizzlies fans. But there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Better days are ahead.

Thank you all for being here today, and we look forward to another exciting season of PBSL. And to the rest of the league, I humbly ask you to enjoy my hiatus from competing while you can. The Grizzlies will be back before you know it, and we will be raising another title banner soon enough. Don't believe me? Call my bluff. I dare you.

Justin Bieber, Teremana; Congrats I guess. You are the Kanye West in SIM. I mean you spend like a billion dollars and you still want more attention. There's 26 teams in the league and yet if one day goes by where the league is not talking about the Grizz, K100 pulls a Kanye West. Super ridiculous.

Do you think Payton Siva is ready for the spot light? Rumors... PG Siva is kinda scare. Many SIM experts believe PG Siva is not even close to PG Ernesto Cruz talent skills. Any comment on your weak PG position?

Peyton Siva is a fine PG. I was surprised he did not get a long-term deal as a project. He will be a key reserve this season. Ernesto Cruz is also a fine PG prospect but when your franchise's hopes and dreams rest on a 19 year old kid's shoulders you know your team has a LONG WAY to go.

I prefer my PGs to be less heralded. I can win with any style PG. Nicholas Zike, Teddy Dizon, Dick Richards. It does not matter. And here is some breaking news Maximino Morales is my starting PG this season.

I'm not gonna lie, Maximino Morales is a cool name! Hope he does well. Tired of overrated blue players. I have plenty of those in my last 10 seasons lol

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: What's the target number of seasons to pay off your tax bill, and will Pick Em be a part of that plan?

In retrospect, zero GMOTY votes looks like a severe oversight, even if you didn't win the award.

It's hard not to draw comparisons to the 4-peat Pistons in terms of defense. Considering you had a few of those players, do you think your team beats that team, if such a thing were possible? Was there defensive prowess inspiration for your team? Are these unfair questions?

Good Job! That shit was legit! You should have gotten GMOTY.

When did you know you had a championship level team?

I'd like to pay off the S61 bill (202 points) by the end of S64 and I'd like to cover the S62 bill (274 points) by the end of S69 (nice x2) so 7 seasons is the goal.

Managing Pick'em will indeed be part of my portfolio. Speaking of, Pick'em is LIVE NOW

Probably a tad impossible since both teams had Gerry Folse, but I'd say the S59 Pistons squad was the best team of the bunch and in a hypothetical, the Grizzlies still would have taken them and their 4 purples out. The sim league Pistons were not an inspiration at all. But I'd say the real-life 2004 Pistons were my muse. They beat the Lakers too!

Good question. It was during the offseason before S62 when the Grizzlies added Folse, Leathers, and Coss to the mix. I just wanted to go after defensive specialists who could go block shots and/or defend the perimeter. After blowing out the Nuggets on the road in G1 of the S62 Conf Finals I knew this team had a legit shot at the Lakers.
