#SLOE: People's Basketball Sim League

Balls O'Hard: Good morning everyone. It's with a heavy heart I am announcing that i am temperarily stepping down as GM from the Los Angeles Lakers due to personal reasons. Over the last season it has been apparent that the results i hold myself accountable to get were being sacrificed by some real life issues that needed to be taken care of. This is unacceptable to me and for a franchise who's history is as rich as the Lakers.

Balls O'Hard:What does this mean? Well the past couple of days I helped lead a search for a replacement and am proud to announce that effective immediately, Inner_GI will be stepping in to take over the team. Inner will have full autonomy to make decision of the team free of me watching over his shoulder.

Balls O'Hard:What this does not mean is, I am gone forever and I will not have an administrative role with the PBSL. I will be in more of a consulting and advisory role for the league in general at this point. Once again, this is with a heavy heart, but if I can't do the type of job I can be proud of this is something that needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Balls O'Hard:With that being said, I will step aside both figuratively and literally and let Inner take the reigns.

It's an honor to follow such a great GM, but it also comes with a lot of pressure to keep the lakers as a contender in the tough western conference.

Generic Wolves Reporter: Inner, you inherit a team that won the last two division titles. Even with KG's poor camp, do you still think this team as is can win a title? Are you going to try to bring some talent in to ensure that?

Damn, not again. Hope things get back on track for you IRL Balls!

Random Reporter: Inner, you were once the GM of the Phoenix Suns, but left due to burnout. How does it feel to assume the reigns of a major division rival?

This team has young talent at every position. We have one player with a big role over 30. I fully expect this team to continue to focus on defense and with the addition of stackhouse this offseason, the offense should be more potent as well. So yes, we can contend for the division and in the playoffs. We shall see what the season has in store for us.

Look we are open to bringing in talent, but this team deserves its chance to find its identity before we make any major shifts so soon in the season.

Scott - By advisory role, do you mean that I can constantly text you about my game plan?

Inner - The Lakers were very successful last season by playing super slow, grind it out basketball. Do you intend to continue this all D and just enough O approach?

Now for the new GM, how important was it to step into a foundation and system with a talent base known for having a skill at TC where the incumbent players would not automatically suffer in the season ahead?

Well, let's just say the rivalry never even started. The Suns teams I built never truly reached the heights I had hoped for, so it's not odd taking over the Lakers. Sad but true.

Absolutely. That's the approach this season, but stackhouse should really bring our O to the next level. We will have to balance out the lineup and minutes to ensure we are not sacrificing our defensive identity too much when reaching for a more potent offense.

Follow up: You are in a tough spot. You have an outstanding team, but they had the first round bounce. Do you make a change and maybe screw up the chemistry, or do you roll with the proven formula and have your success, if it comes, attributed to the prior regime?

It wasn't important at all. I never assumed I would be lucky to step into a organization with this much history and success. TC plagued me in Phoenix, but this announcement was in talks for a few days just to make sure BSH and I had an agreement on what this transition means for us personally and the organization.

It's a wait and see process to be honest. I wasn't here for training camp or preseason, so the first couple of sims this regular season should shed light on what holes we have, and what we need to do to fill them.

Our current plan is to let the head coach continue implementing the system of the past. Well make adjustments as needed.

Change isn't always a bad thing, this organization has a history of making bold moves to win championships.

Thanks for everything, Scott. I always enjoyed our matchups and playoff series. It always let me know what kind of team I had and what kind of coach I was whenever I matched up against you.

For Inner,
I can't be the only one to notice the irony of you of all people taking over the team right after KG and Kirelinko got hit in TC. Do you think the sim gods realized you were taking over and had to do this?

In all seriousness though, you of all people deserve the opportunity to coach a good team. Normally, I would detract from one's achievements if they're handed a great team, but you've built really good teams only to have them destroyed through no fault of your own. This is a championship team and has championship aspirations. While you've never made it past the second round, do you feel you can coach this team to a conference finals or finals appearance or even a title? Also, like I mentioned, would YOU feel the fact that you're taking over a team already built for success diminishes at all any accomplishments you might achieve or can you just not worry about that stuff?

There is no immediate need to change the makeup of this team. With that said, a couple weeks into the season may have us singing a different tune.

Lynn Reed: Inner should bring his knowledge of the pacific division and his ability to draft young talent to the organization. We are hoping a new training staff is a positive

Inner: in my time at Phoenix I've learned a couple things. The pacific is the toughest division and building through the draft isn't a viable option when in the western conference. Build the team to compete because the uncertainty of the draft and training camp can hamstring an organization for years.

This team was built by bsh. So sure it can diminish the accomplishments of this year for me, but I'm also under the pressure to have a successful season.

My lack of playoff experience will be a challenge I will have to overcome, but I'm always up for a challenge.
