Hello everyone and welcome to our press conference for the upcoming 2052-2053 season for the Memphis Grizzlies. We are excited to announce the addition of two new players to our team, Gerry Folse and Luigi Leathers, who we believe will bring a new level of talent and energy to the court.

This season is particularly important for the Grizzlies as we have several expiring contracts that cannot be extended because of the unpaid luxury tax. This means that this season is essentially a "championship or bust" scenario for us. We have a strong team this year and are determined to bring a championship to the city of Memphis.

We understand the pressure that this puts on us, but we are confident in our team's abilities and are committed to leaving it all on the court. With the addition of Gerry Folse and Luigi Leathers to an already stellar group of veteran players like Nix, Galloway, Whitley, Morelock, and Loos we believe that we have the right mix of talent and experience to make a deep run in the playoffs.

While we are focused on the upcoming season, we are also aware of our financial responsibilities and are currently working on finding a solution for our unpaid bills. We are committed to finding a way to address this issue and to continue to provide our fans with a high level of competitive basketball.

Thank you for your time and support of the Grizzlies. We are excited for the season to begin and can't wait to see the team in action.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: This isn't your first rodeo with fiscal ruin. Did winning a championship with this strategy influence your decision to go the same route? And how does the roster you currently have compare with your championship roster--who wins in a 7 game series?

Sounds like the vet min acquisition of Luigi Leathers puts him in front of Loos in your lineup. Is that true? If so, what do you see in Leathers that’s missing from Loos?

You have a good enough squad to make the league destroying Lakers nervous, so best of luck this year, and if you need one more overpriced big I gotchu fam

I find Morelock to be a fascinating player. High potentisl ceiling but some of the places he excels are in strange spots for a guy his size. Where does he fit in your rotation and what is his player comp?

Justin Bieber, Teremana.com: Congrats you made to the playoffs but lost again. Not many people remember your glorious 2043 Championship run. That's almost a decade ago. We have a generation of five star plus, and McDonald's All-American High School players that have no memory of your glorious run. So yes, agree, the pressure is on to win this year. You have no depth at the PG position, most are slow, are you concern? Who will be your starting PG? Are you planning to sign another PG? Why not reach for a $450 salary, do you have any interest on PF Gary Giles for only 3 pts? PF Giles could help you win for your potential championship run.

Good question. It definitely did. I managed to pay off my first debt as the Pistons were wrapping up their dynasty run so the timing to make the move was almost perfect. You correctly pointed out before that many GMs have been hesitant to add older talent to their squads, especially once a player hits the other side of 30 so it definitely makes navigating the trade landscape a lot easier with less competition.

I'd have to say this current Grizzlies' roster is a lot more balanced than the 76ers were during their title run. The 76ers team was built with versatile athletes who could shoot lights out on any given night whereas this Grizzlies squad is considerably older, slower, and more defensive-oriented. It would be an interesting thought experiment to try and square the two squads off one another but I think with the exception of point guard, the 76ers would be outclassed at every position. And the league's overall player talent has improved so much in the decade since my title run that even that Sixers squad might not have made it out of the quarterfinals nowadays.

Final prediction: Grizzlies defeat 76ers, 4-1

Good eye. I think Leathers does crack the starting lineup over Loos. Overall, I think Luigi offers a slight upgrade defensively over Loos without sacrificing too much on the offensive end. I am fortunate to be able to bring Loos off the bench though because he gives the 2nd unit a reliable shot blocker and rebounder who should be able to exploit mismatches against other teams' reserves.

And thanks! I guess I have to go back and resume our rivalry for the masses out there. Warriors suck!

But we are due for another trade soon, so stay tuned sim league 👀

Me too! I think Morelock gets lost in the shuffle of former #1 picks because he wasted away for four years in Houston and joined my squad without ever receiving any training boosts which would have been game-breakers, particularly with regards to INS. I think of him a bit as a tweener at 3/4 even though he logged in lots of minutes at 2-spot for me last season because he had the athletic chops. In terms of a real-life player comp that is a good question. Maybe...Montrezl Harrell?

Wow, you correctly assessed my current PG dilemma. Well done, jlmarines. If only you could do this with your roster before every UFA. I'll be slotting Lyle Galloway as my PG for Sim 1 and we will take it from there and make any adjustments as necessary. If I dont like the current PG production, you better believe I'll look to trade for another PG. Only time will tell.

Regarding Gary Giles - he knew he was going to a sinking ship when you inked him last offseason. He can enjoy his $40M and pad those stats all day in Cleveland. But feel free to unload him (and CamRon Fletcher) for 10 points each next offseason. I heard there will be a new team with cap space next season. Maybe hit that guy up?
