#SLOE: People's Basketball Sim League

Lets get this started early. I know that it makes zero sense right now, but trust me it will as the season moves on. Not much analysis on my end yet as the information is useless since players like Haun and Giles are the MVP frontrunners currently in an all "Recommended" world. So glad we do not live there.

Sim one power rankings are in! A few things jump off immediately to me.

1. THE HEAT WERE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE! for at least the first sim

2. Several big jumpers in the Bulls and Wizards to name a few. Equally, teams like the Pistons, Nets, and Rockets took a big tumble down the rankings.

3. Surprise team of the Sim: The Nuggets. They took this first sim of their career and made the most of it. They jumped up 7 spots. Notably, they beat the Cavs (not a big achievement because that team is whack). They are 3-4, but give them time to adjust to game planning, and I think they will have a good year.

Here we are after a sim 2. It looks like already the SIM POWER RANKING GAWDS know what they are doing. Here are my notes after this sim.

1. Celtics are near the top. I love to see that personally, and it was also the biggest jump of the sim at 6. The sim was really good for my team and the power polls reflected that. I am getting closer to a top spot too.

2. The Cavs dropped two more spots. Everyone can go out and celebrate.

3. An interesting top 5. Where the Bulls are on the outside looking in and teams like the Pacers are inside. A few teams are expected to be here, like the Lakers (before they sell out), Celtics, and Wizards. It will still take time to adjust and see the teams that are at the top of their divisions get to the top.

4. The biggest drop this sim was from the Bulls unexpectedly and the Suns.

5. The Supersonics are at -10.13 points right now, impressively increasing their number by over .25 from the previous sim. I would place my money that their efficient FT shooting is behind the bump. Maybe they will win a game?

The first week of sims are in the books. And mannnnn have this been an interesting year. We have a whole new set of competitors, in what feels like a fresh breath of air has come through the league (from both new GMs, and new competitors.) Now that we are getting a little bit more data to work on, lets see how the POWERRR Poll looks (with a new number one).

Along with a new number one, we have a team that arguably should have a better argument at number one (and may take it after next sim) in the Wizards. They have been one of the bigger surprises of this year, and currently hold the best record.

Biggest drop was the Pacers with a drop to the 9th spot. While they do have a good big three, I do think this is more in line with where they should be sitting as a second level team.

A team that dropped in the rankings that dose not deserve to be so low is the Bulls. They only have four losses, going 9-1 in the last ten games. They did take the L this sim to the Magic which may not have helped combined with what might be viewed in the computer's eyes as a weaker schedule to date (and a lower point diff to go along with it.)

Another GM that continues to be really liked by the computer, the Heat, continue to climb the ladder as well. They had a 3-4 sim, but they did beat the Grizzlies. I wonder if the computer is getting the Heat confused with the Magic who should maybe be swapped in the rankings.

I am thinking I am starting to make sense of these power rankings some. It might be taking into account how hard your schedule is before looking at if you win or not. Where if you play a harder team and get defeated, that is better than beating a really bad team. We shall see as the year goes on, and if I look at the actual returns more...
