Mavs - Pre-Season Press Conference (S60)

Like winter, the Mavs are coming (but not anytime soon).
I love this league. The amount of energy I've been getting from most of the GMs in this league has been tremendous.
Plenty of offers came in for Martin and GG Jackson. The Mavs entertained multiple offers for my only two good players, but none of the proposals would net potential high-level talent. So we will be building around GG Jackson and Martin. Jackson and Martin brought heart to training camp and beat up on the rest of the team. (They know how to throw them bows). The rest of the team is now intimidated and lacks confidence. The Mavs have a two-man show. The rest of the team is being issued a challenge. If they want to stay on the team, they better show out because we only plan on bringing back a few next year. Outside of Martin and GG, the other young talent will have to prove they have what it takes to play in the NBA.
In Free Agency, we missed out on all the top-notch talent. We missed hard. Pulling free agents was difficult because they wanted to win a title this year. Multiple players rejected higher offers to sign for less on other teams. Some teams have loyal players. Looking at you, Wizards. I also offered a max contract to multiple players that signed with the Grizzlies. Grizzlies players are looking to win now and didn't want to be a part of building from the ground up.
Two of the free agents rejected contracts in free agency and are now out of the NBA, and sitting on the free agency list. I refuse to offer them a one-year min deal. Some other GM can have them. Maybe next year, bubble players will take the contract they are offered out of fear of becoming the next Jason Trawick.
We (the Mavs) also realize we over-asked and missed out on being part of the Lakers-Heat trade. Shout out to the Lakers for offering fair trades. Next time we'll take it.
The league has overpriced point guards. The Mavs are taking a different approach. We are done with point guards. We are going big. We are bringing back old-school basketball.
We are testing the idea that playing time this year will hopefully positively affect training camp next year. We are giving all the playing time to the rookies.
Any Questions? Ask away.
