Spurs Season 59 Presser

Hi everyone welcome to the Spurs presser. Last season was a good one for our squad. Our 7th 60 win season in the last 8 seasons. Even though we won 60 games last season we didn't it make past the conference finals. A combination of the clippers being the better team and me being a lazy GM. With that said we found a way to reset our taxes which helped us keep our core together. Knowing that the Pistons were prolly going to win it all with the team they have assembled, my goal was to still win games but get out of the tax and we accomplished both.

Going into this offseason I did not know how it was going to go. Thought maybe it was going to be the same as the past few, sign some vet min scrubs to go alone with my core guys and go from there. I got a little lucky, potentially with a guy we acquired during UFA on a vet min contract. Just threw it out there knowing there was no chance in hell he would sign but he did. Once he signed I thought maybe I should try a little since my guys aren't getting any younger and knowing I needed seasoned old big guy. So we asked about Danny Campbell who we have been trying to get here the last few seasons and right before TC we got a deal worked out. We hope he can make a great impact on the defensive end at his age because as good as the team record last season was we lacked in overall defense. We hope with this move and the combination of a good team TC that we could make it back to the league finals for that 2nd place trophy. Hopefully I don't be a bad GM and get bore by then. We will see how things shake out but if you have any question feel free to ask. As always I will answer them to the best of my ability.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: With your big three returning and joined by one of the strongest frontcourts you've had since your last championship not so long ago, the Spurs seem primed to try and dethrone the Pistons. However, enough about them. Are there any teams in the Alpha Conference that you see as legitimate threats to a Spurs finals visit?

This current roster on paper is one of the better rosters I have had in a while but even with that said the pistons are still a great team and if we were to meet in the finals they would still win in 6. As far as a team that would be a threat. The Pels have a nice roster and could be a threat to my team hopes of returning to the finals. I think having Dort will take them to the next level.

I just saw in the chat you really like TC. As Nate Diaz would say, I'm not surprised, motherfJames Hernandez. What's your secret TC sauce and how much of it did you feed to Hernandez and Schiff and fully purple Galloway this time around?

Do you find getting players with concrete positions limits your ability to be creative with a guy like Montoya ?

It's the family like environment. We make players feel at home and they know they are in a place of stability. They can be themselves and also not have to worry about being traded away. some player strive for to be in that special 12 years a spur group only a select few make. So they give their all to become great and improve their body of work and it shows after we finish with TC.

I still try to find ways to be creative with Montoya if that sometimes mean that others have to play out of their natural position. Sometimes that could be the difference between winning and losing a playoff series

Random Reporter: What does Galloway's emergence as an offensive force mean for Dorian Whitley? Will he shoulder less of a load going forward, or will Galloway and Montoya continue to focus on the defense side of the ball and let Whitley drive the offense as usual?

You have won 8 straight division titles and are well on your way to #9 - if there was no division reorganization how long do you think you would keep the streak going?

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: With Whitley the newest member of "12 years a Spur", how would you rank him against previous long tenured Spurs?

Not sure. Some of the other teams are a few moves away from dethroning my team. I am looking to try and win it again tho. It is named after a spur great.

He's up there with some of the greats. He may even be top 5. Josh Smith will always be #1 on that list. he's the OG 12 years a spur and got me my first ever championship

I think the pacers have a good shot at taking over the division. He might be like one move away from end the streak. TBH I didn't realize I had a long streak of division titles going.
