Pacers Preliminary Preview S58

Normally wouldn't hold a press conference 2 years in a row but we've drastically changed our squad so much that it would feel like a missed opportunity to not speak on it

First things first, id like to thank Cam Fletcher, Daishen Nix, and Bryce Eggert in particular for working hard for the franchise. Fletcher especially was such a pleasant surprise in terms of his contributions last season and I believe he will emerge as one of the best value contracts in the league.
With the pleasantries aside, we finished with the exact same record as the year prior and i'm going to sound like a broken record to the Pacers fans here but our defense yet AGAIN was an absolute embarrassment, rival fans would spam our social media accounts with pictures of traffic cones to troll our defensive play

With that in mind a sweet angel descended upon me in the offseason and his name was Quail the Bucks GM---
Q: "Patrick Williams, want?"
Me: "YES"
Q: "Herb for Patrick"
Me: "lolz no gtfo"

Eventually we settled on a deal and then the next piece of my puzzle was getting a premier shot blocker. At the same time on the other side of the country the Suns were slowly building their forces to overhaul their roster and in an unprecedented miraculous 4-team trade Larry Canfield found his way to Indiana. The last piece was to find quality backups to mitigate foul troubles and wing players and I could gush about Greg Brown or detail the bizarre profile of Caleb Coffin but ill spare you all.

Playoffs are the minimum goal and i'm overly optimistic by nature but I think this squad has some serious potential to make the existing hierarchy uncomfortable
I'd offer a projected starting lineup but I still haven't decided who my starting SF will be and don't expect to know until I report my DC into the node and type "TV" into the forum

Do your thang media, ASK ME ANYTHING!

Random Reporter: How would you, in your own words, explain the "Pauly 1st Sim Curse?"

Would you mind telling Caleb and Danny I said hey? Also, especially to Caleb, what did I ever do to hurt your feelings? I mean, I thought we had a good thing going in LA but I guess not :( :( :(

Do you see Gamez finishing out his contract in IN? Or will you look to move him before his contract is up and save on the lux tax?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: You made the decision to sit Daniel Gamez out during pre-season. What was your reasoning behind this, and how do you expect he'll adjust to running the offense for a team that's gone through some significant roster changes, specifically with the addition of Patrick Williams?

A curious phenomenon that cannot be explained or understood that mystifies PBSL historians and team executives alike. Sources say that it all began in 1992 when an infamous towel boy was reported missing after a card game gone wrong in a downtown Indianapolis bar and the boy's vengeful mother put a hex on the promiscuous young GM and his team shortly after

Hold up lemme facetime Caleb ---
"You overpay that dude Luigi over me?! OVER ME??? That Mario Kart mothaf***a cant even jog the court without a cigarette  PACERS IN 6"

As for Gamez im pretty sure he'll be here for the next few years, im pretty frugal and a veteran at PBSL moneyball at this point but even dipping a bit into the tax will be fine. The key here is that right now there arent a lot of good PGs out there and Dan's contract comes off the books when its time for Herb's extension and we can reallocate those funds so financially I have zero concerns

It was just a case of wanting to see what Lloyd Hasty could do in extended minutes and what Herb offers at that spot should Gamez go down with injury which has happened a couple of times and with the signing of Charles Richards to Washington who spent last year as our 3rd string, the free agent PG market is BARREN. Just preparing for the worst case scenario basically.

I expect him to continue to be quietly effective from 3 (career high % last year) and the assists to be up even more with Canfield and Williams down low. The more he can focus on facilitating offense instead of scoring the better he plays so im excited about that. Also having shot blockers behind him clogging the lane should help his defense, hes had virtually no help on that end in recent years

"Filthy Fingers" Forrester, Cartoon Network: Kim Lewis has proven himself to be a dependable player and last season, he stepped up his game once again, putting up numbers comparable to the season prior. Will his role change heading into the upcoming season? If he continues to put up the same numbers, do you foresee yourself re-signing him during the offseason?

Whoever started the trend of renaming to fictional characters like King Kaldurahm and Joffery Baratheon or disgracing the purity of american legends like Ben Franklin are all to blame. It made a mockery of the PBSL and I cant believe the Shadow Council let that stand for as long as it did!

Spot on Filthy Fingers, he was invaluable last year with Herb, Nix, and Fletcher all foul prone. To have a guy like Kim come off the bench and soak up those minutes and get to the line was a boon to our lackluster squad. Luckily for me he's not a player who's in demand during free agency so I could definitely see myself re-signing him again at a good price. Im gonna start the season with him more as a backup role simply because I need a larger sample size of what Coffin, Alacantar, and Kavanaugh can contribute but there's definitely a chance he's my starter at SF in a month or two
