Wizards Press Conference - "Surely The Crash Is Now, Right?"

Well I certainly wasn't expecting last season to happen like it did. Not only did the team I was moderately excited to see perform flop hard out of the gate, but the hastily assembled bailout crew meant to fall into a lottery pick instead caught fire and notched yet another 50-win season, along with a playoff berth and first-round exit. Rebuilds, how do they work?
Free agency was a bit of a disappointment, as outside of Brian Humbert, I failed to pick up anyone of any real value. Paul Cassel's back, but we're not in a position to make his twilight years enjoyable. Bojo Chic's back, but we don't really have the personnel to seriously compete with him as the centerpiece. I'm looking forward to seeing what Medendez can do at least? Actually, let's talk about Brian Humbert. He reminds me a bit of Brian May, a bench impact guy/fringe starter who can be a key role player for a competing team thanks to his all-around athleticism. Like May, we're likely going to ask him to be a fringe starter, but hopefully we can devise a defensive scheme around his and Jerry Tucker's craftiness that will have a legitimate impact as opposed to empty stats.
Sorry for the low energy so far, but there's only so much to be said, given the position we're in and the roster we have. Perhaps a Cassel deal will provide the opportunity for a clear direction to materialize, but as of now, we're in limbo. Any questions?

In a perfect world, what type of players would you put around Bojo to maximize his skills?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: What kind of return are you looking for in exchange for Paul Cassl?

I'd love to surround him with strong on-ball defenders to mask his slightly-below-average defense. Ideally he'd be a finisher on offense, not a creator, so giving him slashers and passers to team with would be perfect.

At this point I've just about given up on getting an actual solid (blue potential) prospect back in return. As of now, I'm mainly looking for some combination of:
-Project (green potential) players who have skillsets that I think might work
-1st Round pick(s)
-Points

You mentioned being low energy with your team right now so hopefully my question can manifest some positive energy--
You haven't missed the playoffs since the 2025 season an absolutely incredible run and you currently sit 2nd on the All-Time Wins list. How have you managed to stay so consistent for such a long period of time?

I've made consistency itself the primary goal. Whether it be consistency through roster lineup, team construction/philosophy, or just trying our best to win, everyone in this organization comes here with the same dedication year in and year out.
On a meta level, striving for consistency is just a way to keep me engaged regardless of playoff results.

You don't have to worry about the tax this year as you are well under the cap, despite less than desirable salaries for Ronnie Reynolds and seemingly Paul Cassel, too. Why the urgency to move on from Cassel? Have you considered moving Bojo and really resetting with a young core? Or maybe use that cap space to take on someone else's contract?

It's really just the simple fact that Cassel's a win-now player, and we're nowhere near ready to win much of anything now. It's much more likely that I can use the cap room/assets I get from trading Cassel to build something great as opposed to trying to cobble something good together around him in a year or two.
As for Bojo, I was actually prepared for the possibility of moving on from him in RFA...but I made the best offer and he re-signed with me...so yeah, I can't deal him now even if I wanted to lol.

Will Snitchonya, ABC: Jerry Tucker, despite his yellow/yellow rating, is an obviously underrated piece who would be valuable to any team. Do you feel that he was deserving of his $10m contract, especially given his age?
