Yeah
I know
It's A Shit Show Around Here!
Two sims ago we started with a roster full of untended delinquents with no direction. Our scouting was off. Our Training was off. We had no idea what it was to actually run a high functioning organization in this league. We were the AssHoles on the couch screaming at Delmar Lopez cause the Bulls almost lost the finals!
We walked in to a cupcake division and made the playoffs with minimal talent, energy, and discipline. Free Agency woke our game up. Let some of our best talent get away. Made some shit deals for washed up veterans who fell quicker and harder than, "fresh out of bubble gum".
We realized that the best way back is to grow some talent at home. Drafted Andreas Gillam and made an investment, Chris Dunkle showed life, and now we've added Kevon Looney to a frontcourt we believe will dominate the future. Not sure if you've had a look at this kid, but 22 boards on the big stage won't be a problem.
We're aware that we're still carrying some dead weight in the form of Connell and Boston, hell, even Tex who we just signed, but we see it as a luxury to be able to give these young studs some veteran guidance.
The phone was ringing about some of these youngsters, and we're not above making a move, but we see a high upside, and so we would need to hear an offer we can't refuse. And that's a long way off from what we received.
And before I open up for questions I'd like to kiss ass with the league office, cause I know I been makin em work double at every turn.
Don't Fine Me
Who's First?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: What are three goals you have for the Heat this season?

Since you've mentioned your struggles adjusting to the league, what aspect of running a team have you found to have the steepest learning curve?

Do you see Gillam receiving any more training moving forward? If so, what areas are you trying to improve?

Good Question
Thanks for the sounding board.
#1 would be to protect Kevon Looney
He is definitely a different kind of cornerstone, and we don't want to throw him in the deep end.
#2 would be to appreciate Chris Dunkle
He is growing into a force on the block.
We hear his name in trade rumors often.
We know he'll be playing as if his next contract depends on it, but that's not the case.
He's gonna keep a Heat Jersey on his back, and earn every coin in that bag.
and #3 would be to develop some of our supporting cast.
What can we get out of Rex Milne?
Can Simi Shittu bounce back from a bad camp?
Will David Lomas continue to impress?
We think we'll be very deep very soon, but where that depth comes from is not taken for granted.

In a fantasy world where the bank was a playground, I would love to continue the investment on Gillam.
It would be great if we could help his post D and foul rating.
The reality is, Looney is our fancy new toy, and we'll steer the bank accordingly.

This is an excellent question.
I have to say that the data has more nuance than I expected.
This shit is complex, and that's not even including the personalities running the plays.
Feel like contract value is somewhere I see completely different than when I walked through the door,
The importance of player style fitting your team identity,
how much I have to track each and every player suiting up,
and I imagine I'll run into a huge learning challenge when I stack a roster talented enough to be impacted by quality of game strategy.
Cause I can see some underwhelming performances from teams that I think are loaded, and that's scary.

As you build around Looney, what types of players are you looking for to guard against some of Looney's weaknesses and enhance his strengths?

First of all, sorry you had to learn from the guy who took Delmar to the finals and lost. Twice. And couldn’t even make it past the conference finals with Delmar. Twice.

So now that you’ve been around a minute, who’s doing it right? What do you like about what they’re doing and how might you go about emulating it?

What's the point of it all? Are you still not interested in Jericho Sims?
