Knicks Preseason Presser

Hello everyone and welcome to another season of Knicks basketball. Last season we had a winning record but didn't make the playoffs which was disappointing. However we have most of that same team back this season and added a few new pieces to the roster. We re-signed John McIntyre and Volker Kapp which is huge for us. We also drafted Clemente Raya who will be a big part of our rotation once it gets going. We also signed Gerald Horrocks, Benton Stack, Terry Sterner, and Kenneth Johnson to round out our roster. I think we have a better roster overall than last season but not without some things to sort out. We're set at SG, PF, and C both starters and back ups. As far as SF is concerned we only have 2 so we'll be rotating in some of the SGs to get them more playing time to fill that void. With PG the only thing to figure out is the rotation. Sterner is starting for now but Johnson and Halford will be rotated in. Whoever works best as the starter will keep the job. That's my game plan with that. We're going into the season with Haun, Leonardo, Kapp, McIntyre, and Sterner as starters with Bower as 6th Man. If the rotation works out as well as I think it is we're going to be in very good shape. We've upgraded the depth at almost every position so I think another 40 win season isn't out the question. I think we'd be a 6th seed going by that but only time will tell how that plays out.

Who is your team leader this year? Would you trade for an SF if it fit in the way you would like? Who is your biggest competition in your new division?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: In preseason, the Knicks offense looked efficient, but the defense was one of the worst in the league, specifically when defending the three point shot. Do you plan on making any adjustments to improve the defense or are you hoping that leaning into offense can mask defensive liabilities?

This off-season you gave sizeable contracts to Terry Sterner and Benton Stack, but they did not play much in preseason. In hindsight, especially seeing other, better, players in free agency go for much less, are there any players you wish you had sent offers to instead?

I would say Haun or Leonardo.
Yes I would trade for one if I felt it was a good fit.
The Spurs clearly are and it's not even close.

Yes I've already done that for Sim 1. If the defense improves then I think things will be good to go. If not then it'll be a long season.

Sizeable contracts? I spent $34 million combined on them and I'm under the cap. Those contracts aren't that bad and yes I did put in offers for the purples in FA so that negates the other point of your question.

Drew Shartshooter: Hey it's me Drew from the bar. Anyways, last season was one to remember, with Germany's own Volker Kapp making his long-awaited debut. Although he played little, he impressed scouts with his sheer determination. What do you think is his finest trait outside of basketball?

Which team sucks more: Your Eagles or Your Knicks from last season?

Neither, the Bucks this season are worse than both of those teams.

The defense is allowing the third lowest amount of points in the league so far. I think my game plan is proven to be sound.

We're 11-3 and the only team with cap space with a winning record. What was that about inferior talent on bloated contracts? My signings are clearly working out and my team is a clear contender early this season. Get ready for the panic trading because of that when Day 60 hits bwahaha.
