Knicks Preseason Presser

Alright it's time once again for another season of Knicks basketball. First of all last season was a mess because of shit bench play. I had to go to recommended for the first time in at least 8 seasons. It was bad however it wasn't as bad as the Meme Thread has been so far this season. Speaking of that most of these GMs care more about the Meme Thread and trading players like they're cigarettes in the prison yard than their actual teams. The memes aren't good which is why I usually vote for none of them in the end of the year voting for Meme of the Year. Speaking of garbage, the Knicks last season were that but that ain't happening this year. I've overhauled the team starting by trading Harold Bye for Len Bias. Leonardo, McIntyre, Bias, and Haun are for sure starting with Bower as the Sixth Man again. SF is going to be intriguing. We have Kapp, Flickinger, and Layne on the roster. They're all fairly equal so I'll likely play all three and see who works best in the rotation because I for damn sure ain't using recommended going by the Preseason. Ecker, Merry, James, Lindsley, Colton, Halford, and the returning Xu Gu round out the roster. The fact I only brought back one guy should tell you how much of a shitshow last season's bench was. It was like two or three actual players putting up decent numbers and seven bums rotating in when needed who produced barely anything on the court. That ain't happening again this season so that's why I brought in our four draft picks and signed players who are for sure going to be improvements over last season. Xu Gu is back because he's the only one not already signed on the bench who didn't piss me off. That said I'm looking forward to winning 30 games again and to falling asleep every night looking at the paint drying in the Meme Thread. Any trolling questions or in most cases actual questions for me?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: With only one playoff appearance in the last decade and a fan base that's not exactly known for their patience, what area as a GM are you looking to work on improving the most?

Great question. I'd say the answer to that is not making 5 trades every season or wasting points to train up players like everyone else is doing. Those are a waste of time. If I need to improve on anything it's not looking at the meme thread because I start to doze off every time that O do.

How many phases exactly does your plan extend to ? When's you're prediction to be a contender again after a decade of sadness ?

About the same amount of time it takes everyone's wives and girlfriends to finishing faking an orgasm, 5 seasons.

Another brilliant and quotable presser from Dr. K, thank you for that!
Some GMs with winning records might argue that trading up and training players generally make your team better. You disagree, yet boast a losing record. When is it time to look for more than 30 wins and take some risks to get there?

What kind of players do you look for when you are trying to build your bench? Specialists? High energy guys? Or something else entirely?
Since you managed to move Harold Bye's guaranteed $54M contract and Ronald Jordan's $30M dead money will be wiped from your books after this season you now have ~$80M in cap space for next season. Do you see yourself going after a star player to play alongside Haun/Leonardo? Or will you continue with your team-first approach and sign a bunch of players to smaller contracts?

I took some risks and that's part of the reason my record is bad. Took me 6 seasons to recover from that. All the bad contracts are gone after this season so it'll be more sooner than later especially if my bench isn't hot garbage, aka the Detroit Lions, this season.

I look for players who fill up the Stat lines. 2 rebounds here, 2 assists there...it all adds up in the end. It's just a matter of the players being able to score which was the issue last season minis Fricke, Bower, and Gu. The rest of them bums shouldn't be signed by anyone because they Fryeing suck.
Yes I will be looking at bringing in an SG for sure, possibly an SF too unless one of the 3 guys at that position plays phenomenal this season. I'll continue with my team first approach for sure but it works best with a top 4 and a decent g/g 5th starting with a 10 pt per game 6th man. Haun is going to be a monster, I'm building around him. Leonardo, Colton, Bower, and McIntyre all are good fits with him on the team. The key will be Bias this season. I'm hoping for a Chris Paul/DeAndre Ayton scenario with that this season.

Did you intentionally include a player as keyed up when he was not on your roster?

No. Why the hell would I do that on purpose? Go troll one of the teams with a losing record.
