Good Morning everyone, I’d like to play a few slides for you before we get started today
Slide 1: 2007-2008 NBA Boston Celtics
Slide 2: 2011-2012 Philadelphia Eagles
Slide 3: 2012-2014 NBA Los Angeles Lakers
Slide 4: 2012-2013 NBA Miami Heat
Slide 5: 2020-2021 NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Slide 6: 2021-2022 NFL Los Angeles Rams
Ok, so we are like all of the above mentioned teams in that we had luck go our way in some singings and deals, and have a team that is built to win now. My hope is that we are not like some of the just seen teams where the players never meshed and did not reach a championship win.
Last season was a success in my eyes. While we have two top end players in Wade and Maker, and added Sterner in a deal, we were built very solid but knew that there were other teams out there that had more power. Our team brought a similar approach to last year that we have adapted in the Wade era, a defense that will keep us in any game. Sure enough, we gave the 76ers a 7 game series in the conference finals.
Coming into the offseason, I knew that I could bring back virtually the whole team last year. I wanted to upgrade my roster and knew I had plenty of choices. First attempt was Dan Yan, each next to Wade would be insane. After realizing that the Spurs were courting other offers that appeared to be front runners, I decided to look at the market again. Quick talks with the Timberwolves and an impromptu talks with the Bucks lead to Hintz and Sterner turning into Delmar and Tex. I am very excited about both players. Delmar is still purple, maybe the oldest one ever, and will be sliding to PF. This will allow Maker to play center, where the last time he played there he got all league honors. Tex is a guy I’ve been chasing for years. I’ve thought about trying to make a back court of those two since his RFA days. Then we were fortunate enough to sign Pearman who will be a great addition at SF and hopefully be our glue guy.
I think the only problem we might run into is wing and guard depth. I tried to sign a few players that will hopefully work out well. Other than that, I think our team will still be a defensive force and hopefully have an even stronger offensive presence this season. Now let’s go win one boys.
C: Maker
PF: Delmar
SF: Pearman
SG: Wade
PG: Tex
