S55 Lakers Preseason Presser

Welcome back to the Staples Center ladies and gentlemen! Whereas you’ve been here mostly to see the Clippers, you’re now most definitely here for the Lakers. We had a great return to form last season with All Stars Kenneth Heard and Alex Caruso as well as Danny Campbell leading us to the playoffs for the first time since we had Delmar Lopez (who never stopped going to the playoffs and won’t stop this year either).

This year we hope to have yet another Conference Finals berth. If we win and go to the Finals that would be amazing, but Delmar Lopez and Zaire Wade may have something against that plan. So we will do our best to make everyone in LA thrilled with some exciting basketball and give everyone a run for their money. One of our biggest problems last year was depth, but we’re pretty well rounded out now with the additions of Miguel Thomas, Chris Ridley, and a surge of improvement from Mason Dixon, too, who is now a true threat underneath the basket. That guy had one of the top 10 best training camps in the league! Super excited about that, and super happy to see him keep his Lakers jersey for years to come.

Our lineup will be essentially the same as last year, but we’ll play our starters fewer minutes and limit the chance for injuries. We’re also excited to smash on the reigning champion 76ers twice in the first sim, right here in the Staples Center, because they aren’t even half the team they used to be. And they’re broke. Soon to be broken. By me.

Anyway, the one team I’m really afraid of this year is the Thunder. The Spurs are less threatening without Yan, but still a problem. Can’t count out my Rd 1 playoff rivals the Pistons, they’re tough with a front court looking better than ever. Bulls are back, too. Nuggies didn’t go anywhere. But I’m gonna beat all-uh-yuhs!!!

Who’s got the questions for me?

With the Spurs being less of a threat this season which team in the Alpha you see yourself facing in a potential finals matchup.

Danny Campbell has bounced back nicely since his TC disaster a few seasons ago. What are you expecting from him at an individual level this season?

And you mentioned a bit about incorporating some load management this season, do you think that will be a trend we start to see more of across the league?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: You mentioned the improved depth of the Lakers this season. What position or area do you think still needs improvement?

If it was the Spurs I wouldn’t be surprised. Cant underestimate Whitley and Montoya even though I’m talking that trash. But I have to look at the Bulls and Nuggets, definitely, and even though I feel like the Kings have a missing link, I could just be straight up wrong about them too. We shall see…

Well, for starters, DC is an all star. He will be in the all star game this year for sure. Hopefully Kenny Heard stays there too and we have three all stars this year.

I’ve always felt that, in a simulated basketball game, you want your best players spending the most time on the floor. I’m just less sure, now, that maximizing floor time is necessarily an efficient use of floor time. I ran far with Delmar but lacked depth. Being the fan of the real life Warriors that I am, I can’t ignore the value of depth. Bradley Connell started my depth game, but he still carried starter level minutes. And I had a great season but was not as deep as the thunder or Sixers.

Will the rest of the league follow suit? Perhaps. I’m more concerned about my wins than how others win though.

Point guard. I have some plans to support Blakemore but they’re not my favorite. Logan Donofrio can pass the ball and dribble a bit better than Connell, but compared to Connell overall, he sucks. The free agent market boasted some excellent PGs that were out of our MLE price range and the Nuggets got both of them anyway.

Justin Bieber, Teremana.com: You mentioned Thunder is the team you are afraid the most. You also mentioned your depth improved from last year. Do you think your bench players are better then Thunder bench bench players? Good luck on your season.

Random Reporter: Despite having an excellent training camp, Mason Dixon didn't get a lot of minutes in the preseason. As the only only other notable young talent on your roster, what role do you have planned for him going forward?

At this point I do think I have the better bench, honestly, but we're both weak(est) in the guard spot. I think both of us could do some starting lineup finagling to boost our benches, though. Still, we're both weakest in the same spot.

Will Jack Nicholson be attending any games this season?

He will come off the bench at center. Kenneth Heard is an all star and we dont want to take too much playing time from him, but Dixon has proven he will be a solid role player off the bench. His main issue is scoring, but he's definitely been working on that too. We're just really happy to have him on board and excited to see how he will develop.

Here's Johnny!

Anyway if there was one team in the league you'd like to see implode this season which team would it be and why?

Wait, I'm hearing through my headset that the Knicks GM said Douglas Haun would be better than that bum when he's a p/p in 3 seasons so you have nothing to worry about. Which team in your division do you think sucks the most?

WOOF, i just don't know, bro. I think LA is Caruso's home. Would take a lot of convincing otherwise and you've certainly done your fair share and yet I'm still not yet quite convinced!

Kai Jones = bum?!   you're more outta pocket than me man lol, but for sure doug haun is a nice centerpiece especially next to now blue/blue leonardo whom you have on quite the deal now i must say. If you trained up Haun's fouls a bit *cough cough* he'd be pretty hard to top, color notwithstanding, though it would be nice to see that purple haze hit MSG
