What was the thought process behind not declining Bias' team option for this season when it would have meant getting under the tax threshold by now?

Do you really believe this will get 5 points for a preseason presser ?

Cute presser. Real cute.

What's your plan between now and then? I mean, jail is not death after all, just a time between now and the future where you can still work on any number of things. What will those be?

Sheer recklessness. Believe it or not, if I had lost last season I would have at least kicked the tires at running it back again and mortgaged the entire franchise's future by trying to S&T for someone like Delmar Lopez, à la OKC, so Bias would have been needed as matching salary. Suffice it to say, it was a TERRIBLE idea but you know, yada yada...sunk cost fallacy.

I am happy though that Len Bias found a new home in New York. I believe the Knicks should give him starter minutes, and I think Bias will be a great fit for Dr. K's brand of sim ball this season.

Precedent suggests yes so I'm willing to test greeple's patience again. But if greeple is not amused this time, it was still worth it.

Great question, I'll try to prioritize this list.

1. Cut an additional $50,799,240 this season to reset my tax.

2. Just take a step back from the league for a bit and breathe. It's been a fun ride, especially the last 5 seasons or so but now that this build is officially over I can take my foot off the gas and just ride the wave this year. It will be fun to take a backseat and see how my 3 amigos all fare now that I am nowhere near competing with them.

3. Find new homes for Jere Bailey and Malik Osborne (maybe Elliot Thorpe too). The tax will not be paid off in 3 seasons so these guys will not be the foundation for any future 76ers core. Hoping for TC boosts next season. Fingers crossed.

4. By S56 I'll have a TON of cap space. Just send a DM attach some points and/or draft pick and we got a deal.

5. Hope the next couple of draft classes are true jackpots. My picks for the foreseeable future will be for sale.

7. Around S58 or so, be within striking distance of paying this tax bill off because I want to try and protect these lottery picks now.

6. Did you notice I skipped 6 before? Now my list ends with 76...nice. Try and recruit more people to join sim league. I hope there is enough interest for this to continue so I can try to win #2 before @jlmarines even makes the playoffs. I like our little crew AB started so hopefully some of our other mutual friends will join down the road. Plus those sweet, sweet referral points.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Congrats on going all out and winning your first championship. For those who haven't one a ring yet, can you describe how it feels? And do you think those teams are going to emulate your high risk/high reward plan when failure all but guarantees they won't get another shot at the title for a while?

Thank you! I think winning a title just gives you a sense of satisfaction that you finally built something that worked. For me personally, it was great to get my "revenge" against the Spurs after they beat the Sixers in Game 7 from the S53 Finals. EazyP has built a monster over there in Alpha so to at least get them once was cool. I just wanted to give him a shoutout too for being such a gracious GM before, during, and after the Finals in our chats. I also appreciate everyone giving kudos on Skype chat immediately afterwards too. Plus, I did it before AB could with OKC, and he introduced me to the game!

Tough one, I sure hope someone would try (because it is a lot of fun) but I dont think any of the current GMs will go to the extremes I went. I'll divide the GMs into two camps. For the OG GMs who have not won a title yet, I'm 99% sure they wont because if they had never tried in 50+ seasons, why bother now? These guys have proven they can build solid teams capable of playoff runs and that is enough satisfaction to keep playing and that's cool too.

For the batch of new GMs (Blazers, Cavs, Kings, Lakers, and Suns) I do not think so either. I was always a little surprised the Blazers did not try again after getting De'Aaron Fox, but I think he became more cautious after that gamble did not pay off. Heading into the offseason I actually thought the Suns were on the verge of doing so because they were so aggressive from the onset, but they passed on Dangerfield/Reynolds so it is a moot point now. Of the remaining GMs I think the Lakers have proven to be the most aggressive, but I just dont see it happening with Caruso's free agency looming next season. I think greeple has the pieces to make that push, but it's easy for me to say DO IT when I'm not the one who could lose a future All-League talent. I do give credit to AB for taking a swing at Delmar Lopez this offseason but he never spends points so he has the bank to cover the bill. Finally, the Kings and Cavs are both interested in building teams that are perennial playoff contenders. They are both very competitive so the eventual tanking that happens once you are in tax jail is not appealing to either of them (surprising for the Cavs GM because he is SO GOOD at losing already). Overall, I think GMs enjoy playing this game season after season because you can be flexible with your roster builds. Once you are in tax jail all that freedom disappears so I definitely get why not many teams try this approach.

Justin Bieber, Teremana.com; What are your expectations for this year and what would you consider a successful year? Playoff spot or finishing over .500?

Good question - to be honest I think I will miss the playoffs this season. I am still trying to shed salary to reset my tax so this squad will get weaker once I unload more salary somewhere. A successful season to me would entail resetting the tax and staying competitive in most games. I'm hoping to also see what Bailey, Osborn, Thorpe, and Landes can do with extended playing time as they are going to be hitting the trade block soon too. If by some miracle, this squad finishes above .500 and/or makes the playoffs then it will be a wildly successful season.

Which teams do you think will make the Finals this season?

Was there any haggling for your trades? Especially wiseman, who you were close to?

Also, who would you take in a head to head between yourself and the Cavs?

I think garbageman can attest our Wiseman negotiations were tense and both sides almost walked away completely. Dont even get me started on the Cavs GM re: Cassius Winston. Another tough hombre to try and trade with this offseason.

AngryBanana wrote: Mon Nov 15, 2021 4:56 pm Also, who would you take in a head to head between yourself and the Cavs?
I'd beat @jlmarines in H-O-R-S-E. I know my jumpshot is better than his. In a 1-on-1, he is very tall so I think he would just play in the paint all day and beat me.

Sim league - Cavs all day. I just threw up in my mouth a little.

1. Don't draft like the Cavs
2. Don't trade with the Thunder
3. Don't spend like the 76ers

4. Do read the Sim League Bible
Seriously, you can ignore the other rules if you want but READ THIS, LEARN THIS, and most importantly APPLY THIS.

And remember be creative with your lineups, be flexible with your roster, and most importantly have fun along the way.
