Welcome to the Cavs Preseason Presser. We are pleased to welcome our only hope GM jlmarines.
GM jlmarines: Last season we struggle to score points as a team, we averaged 108 pts per game, which is unacceptable. This offseason, I challenged our young team to find their inner power and try to discover their true Arcana. I wasn't disappointed! Our star BBJ discovered his true Arcana. At age 28, BBJ had the best training camp for our entire team. That's what I expect from a true leader as BBJ. Scottie Barnes did not disappoint neither. Barnes had a great training camp. We are confidence Barnes will have a breakout season. During this offseason, Tilton worked on his foul issues, during practice Tilton committed less fouls, and we expect Tilton to stay in the games longer. Tilton is just too good to be in the bench, and he understands he's a valuable asset to the team. We made some tough decisions and decided not to bring back PF Daniel Oturu, we couldn't afford his salary and we decided to sign younger prospects with huge potential. During this offseason we signed solid veterans PF Gardner, PF Zimmer, PG Waters and SG/PG Jordan, all four veterans have solid defensive attribute skills. Overall, if you look at our entire roster, Cavs have a solid 12 man rotation.
GM jlmarines: Our strategy for this year was to figure out how to upgrade as a team. By trading PF Oturu, Cavs were able to sign 5 solid players. We are very excited to sign the leagues top 3 point shooter Rudy Conrad. We expect Conrad to play huge role in the 4th Quarter. I am pleased we were able to draft 1st round pick SF Osborne. Osborne is a freak and big time potential. We believe Osborne will be a top scorer very soon in this league. Overall, we lost star players Oturu and Connell but as a team, we have a much better 12 man rotation. I think we will surprise the league
GM jlmarines: We look forward to the season. I really think we are much better as a team. We expect to be the most improved team. Here's our depth chart:
C Tilton
C Ojo
PF Gardner
PF Zimmer
SF BBJ
SF Fletcher
SG Barnes
SG Adams
PG Waters
PG Jordan

With a bit of a strange roster make-up, a bunch of young guys next to your 2 older top players, did you ever consider putting BBJ and/or Tilton on the trade block to attempt a full youth-infused rebuild?

You said you expect to be the most improved team this season. Does this mean you'd anticipate being in the hunt for the final playoff spot?

Thank you for the question. I did. However, that would mean Cavs probably winning like 10 games. Something I am not ready to accept. I'm already dealing with angry sharks like K100 and Angrybanana. Having the worst record in the league is too much to go through. I probably stop working in real life, lol.
I actually like Tilton. I really think he can be special. I've been working on his foul issues, like the last 3 seasons. It's a very risky decision to keep him, but I hope this year finally pays off.

Thank you for the question. I don't think so. But I do expect a 35-40 win season. Might not mean much for the league, but I do have a very young team. If I win 35+ games, watch out next year Cavs are serious contenders.

Over the years you have implemented an entertaining, fast-paced approach to the offensive end. While the Cavs certainly boast one of the most athletic squads in the league, several of these teams have been exposed on defense. Do you think this season you will try and slow the pace of the game down for your young players so they do not get overwhelmed in crunch time?

After your biggest move last year, acquiring Daniel Oturu for some young prospects, you cut him loose to the Sixers. Too expensive. If you could go back to that deal, would you still make it?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: With your two biggest contracts in BBJ and Eloy Tilton on expiring contracts, you have pretty open books next offseason. Do you have any long term goals that extend beyond this season and do they involve bringing either BBJ or Tilton back?

Great question. No I wouldn't. In fact, in my 5 seasons as a GM, Oturu trade was my worst mistake.
I waited for 3 seasons for Hintz to step up. I lost my patience and traded Hintz for Oturu. Now Hintz, is a superstar with Thunder. And Cavs are starting over again.
The good news we got more young talent. I look forward for Scottie Barnes to have a monster year.

Great question. I do and feels great! I'm still learning the rules. Recently, I finally figured out what it means to have "bird rights".
Cavs are not afraid to spend, but my current struggle is trying to figure out spending rules. But, I'm getting there.
This year is going to be excited for the Cavs. BBJ and Tilton are in the hot seat. If they produce at the level it's expected, then yes, they will be part of the long term plans with our young studs SF/SG Barnes and SF Fletcher.

Scumbag Steve, ABC News: Deandre Zimmer really lit it up for the ballclub last year, averaging 11 points, 2.8 assists, and 6.7 rebounds in 27.7 minutes of play. Do you foresee him remaining with the ballclub heading forward? The guy is 30 and already has type-2 diabetes.

Great question. Previous season, I try to get the best 3 blue players.
My strategy this year is totally different. My goal was to build the best 12 men rotation. I might not have five blue players but I have deep 12 men rotation.
Every person I signed this off-season, was vetted carefully. The pace will slow a little, but not much. I think I have enough solid defense players that can step in and provide depth on defense. PG Waters, SG Jordan, and PF Gardner will provide solid defense for the Cavs.

Thank you for the question. Zimmer found his true Arcana this off-season.
Instead of blaming his family history for his diabetes issues, we made sure Zimmer completed his alcohol rehab this off-season. It's no secret, Zimmer alcohol consumption, caused unhealthy donut diet.
The good news Zimmer is healthier and it was obvious during preseason. He was a stud during preason. The guy refuses to drink water during games. He's a special player.
If Zimmer continues to stay healthy, Don Zimmer will definitely be in Cavs future plans!

Will RoJo mess up your team chemistry like he did the Knicks before they cut him?

Thank you for the great question. We had a series chat with Rojo. We stop by his house and had dinner. There was too many distractions in NY. He was more focus on the nighlife, girls, and drinking.
We made sure to get him a room next to our practice facility. That's where he is going to sleep, eat, and practice. He has a curfew too. At 8pm he's already sleeping. Reveille is at 5am for Rojo, we converted him to a vegan. He understands water breaks are earned, not given.
Rojo is a changed man. He only has time to think about basketball. He found his inner power and his Arcana with the Cavs. We expect Rojo to be focused and be a team leader!

You say this like having a bad record for a season or two is a bad thing... when getting a #1-#4 pick can literally catapult you in a full rebuild (a la Raptors) or a retool (a la Bucks). Sacraficing 1 season's success for long-term future is not necessarily a bad thing. At what point do you think about moving BBJ? Slow start to the year changes your mind any? What do you expect in a return for a 29 year old player who never reached his potential on an expiring contract?

Yes, this year, and we will destroy the Kings. That's for sure.
