Balls O'Hard:
Good evening everyone and welcome to the Pistons presser. We really haven't had a lot of reason to talk recently but I think we have some reason to chatter a bit today. I'm going to get the elephant out of the room early. We're excited to bring on Mitchell Robinson who we believe is a top 3 center in our league today. Mitchell will help us build towards establishing a winning culture with so many young guys on the roster.

Balls O'Hard:
The players have started taking their lumps in their careers to know what the league is all about and now it's time to learn a bit of winning and how hard it is to wearn a spot in the playoffs. We felt the need to bring in Mitchell because we feel like we're close as far as pieces to build a compelling team.

Balls O'Hard:
We were also fortunate enough to grab the 1 pick in the draft and we're able to select Emoni Bates who is a raw prospect but really has the potential to do it all on both ends of the floor. What we saw in bates was a guy who could fit into our system which values taking care of the ball and gaining possessions on the other side of the court.

Balls O'Hard:
The expectations for the team this year are to continue to grow. I don't think saying the playoffs or bust is the right move for us. We could be a bottom 5 team or be fighting for a playoff spot as our ceiling. But we want to grow organically. If we see a trade that fits our timeline we will without a doubt pull the trigger, however we're not feeling rushed to make any additional moves besides letting our guys grow into their roles.

Balls O'Hard:
With that I'll open it up for questions.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: The acquisition of Mitchell Robinson came after dealing Myke Henry to the Raptors. What happened in between--if anything--that led you to change directions and buy since Henry and Robinson seem very much on the same timelines.

GWR: Do you see your path to contention through another move or through internal growth?

Good question and it's something that weighed on me when making the move. Ultimately Myke is a great player but he was a great player in a position of strength for us. It got complicated to try and get him his due minutes and allowing out great you g core of wings the time. I would have loved to keep Myke and Mitchell together but it wasn't possible at the cost I was willing to pay.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: Cade Cunningham looks like he is starting to develop into a solid offensive piece. It looks like he will be a good compliment to Mitchel this season, and moving forward. Do you plan on developing other parts of his game, like fouling, PRD, stealing, or some athletics to elevate his game to the next level?

I think the pathway really is to start building identity of who we are and what we do. I like in my head to say in Detroit "nothing's easy". And I think it holds to the city. So we're trying to build a hard nosed team around that identity and that's Mitchell Robinson to a T. So what does it take to continue that legacy around him and grow into it. I personally think organic and acquisitions is ultimately the pathway to win for us.

I would think athleticism or jump shooting is where he needs the most help. Overall though I think he's ready for a breakout season !

Any regrets on moving Myke Henry?

A little, to be honest. But I'm not sure how I could keep all the guys I loved and have Mitchell and Myke. It's my Owen fault bc I'm attached to certain guys, I know .thank you for the question!
