S51 Playoffs: A note on each team (Omega)
Posted: Tue May 04, 2021 5:55 pm
I wanted to write one article, honestly, but time is what it is and I didn't want everything I had to say to be completely moot by the time I posted. So, here's Omega, some of which may not be important anymore. But if I wrote about the last sim, or having seen the last sim, I made note of it. Maybe next time I'll do "live coverage" or something.
Anyway, at least read the Sixers part. It's the best part. Love you @K-100 <3
Omega
Los Angeles Lakers
Delmar is MVP and the reason we have the best record in the league. Delmar is MVP and the reason we’re winning it all in S51. I’m not surprised, and if you are surprised, you clearly haven’t read any of my articles before.
Los Angeles Clippers
Uhh, I like Mamba, but this dude is trying to steal my thunder. Go steal AB’s Thunder why don’t you. *sigh* I was the team with two purples - finally! - and figured nothing could stop me from winning gold. MexicanMamba looked at me, laughed, and got an extra purple for himself, too, AFTER the threatening Thunder signed De’Aaron Fox. So what the heck, Mamba? Why couldn’t you just continue your respectable but not brilliant 10-5 start? Why did you have to start performing even better even before you signed Jordan Johnson? Why wasn’t the Robert Bonnett signing enough?
Look, man. You swept me in the finals once already. You’re not about to sweep me in the conference finals now, too. But I’ll see you there, fool.
Oklahoma City Thunder
By Day 60, AB’s OKC Thunder had me keeping my eyes open. I mean, I was already paying attention because my play for Fred Chatham was rebuffed in quick fashion. He would’ve helped my front court big time, but AB saw the writing on the wall. He couldn’t let me have any more rope because he looked into the future and saw me signing William Pearman before I did. And he was furious. Angry, if you will. Instead of pouting in a corner, though, he made a baller move to acquire De’Aaron Fox, deepening his squad such that a guy like De’Aaron Fox could come off the bench for him if he so desired. Ridiculous!
Like me, injuries plagued the Thunder, namely the Makur Maker injury. The guy is already a PBSL top-10 big man, maybe even top-5, and he’s still on his rookie deal. Missing half the regular season, we can’t even be sure what the Thunder are actually like, because the return of Makur will threaten anyone. I already predicted meeting Mamba in the conference finals, but not if AB and Makur have anything to say about it!
Philadelphia 76ers
I hate your guts, K100. You are the worst thing to happen to PBSL in its history. I nominated you for GMOTY because of reverse psychology. You have no business here, and I will see to it that you know it by the end of our series. Forget best out of 3 or best out of 5, even. I’m snuffing you out K100. Your beating will be so severe that you have to retire - it won’t even be by choice! The actual embarrassment from how bad your Sixers will be beaten will physically disable you from hopping on TV ever again, let alone logging into the forums. You’re done son! You suck more than your memes.
Brooklyn Nets
I feel bad for RealPelicansFan’s Brooklyn Nets. He has a squad poised to make it out of the 1st round, but even without Kaleb Wesson’s untimely injury, the 5th seed and beyond in Omega was bound to hit a buzzsaw from the top 4. I commend RPF’s rebound from his 2-7 start, becoming a .500 team one sim later. These Brooklyn Nets looked solid coming into S51, definitely a team to fear, with Fang Shuo only getting better and Ja Morant joining in his twilight years as one of the league’s top PG’s of late. Unfortunately, a lot of their momentum was lost toward the end of the season with Shuo’s injury, and the Nets limped into a 5th seed finish with little hope. Very unfortunate turn of events here, but rather than focus on these playoffs, I reckon the future is much more important. Fang is about to break out of his shell very soon.
Washington Wizards
Well if it isn’t one of my former division rivals, Xist and the Wizards. It’s only a matter of time before his team rivals mine again. Although Liberty is only g/b, she’s great where she needs to be, and Paul Cassel is a machine at center, especially with Tasmin Mitchell at his side. This team is better than their record would have you believe, and they did have some key victories in the regular season against teams like the 76ers, Lakers, Bulls, and Thunder, too - their Rd. 1 opponents. Is this a good omen for Xist? (Okay, I see now they lost in 4 but that was before I wrote this. Such is being late.)
Either way, I have the Thunder pegged to go deeper into the playoffs, and there would be no shame in losing to them. These Wizards are a player or two away from title contention, so even though S51 wasn’t their year, they showed that consistency and activity can pay off. He got the title once and I’ll reckon he’ll get it again before too long.
New Orleans Pelicans
Nick made some key trades to net talent this year. The old squad is gone and the new squad is talented but maybe still figuring out how to play together consistently. One could argue Kerry Powell was their actual breakout star this season, even with talent like Chris Ridley and Odell Raspberry flanking him. Gabauer is good, verging on great, but needs maybe just one more decent training camp to hit his heights. If Ridley and Raspberry hadn’t gone down to injury this year, they could be looking at a higher seed than 7th, but in a conference like Omega, making the playoffs is a triumph in itself.
Nick is a vet GM capable of greatness. He’s meeting a younger GM with a ridiculously good team. I wouldn’t be surprised if the series gets sent back to LA for one more sim. Actually, okay, I’m not surprised these guys have one more sim. I’ll have to check those stats out once I post this.
...And that’s all folks! If you read it, I hope you enjoyed it, especially if you are the media coordinator. Point me, baby. Point me.
