S51 Magic Hour

Hello, friends. We're back at it again (as long as the main node gets restored).

When I was up at this podium last season, I said I didn't really know what to expect. Well, the answer was "injuries"- it seemed like every sim someone was hurt. The team was able to rally though to 47 wins, which was good enough to get beat down by Eazy's Spurs. Sure, I'd made sure that my pick didn't land in the lottery, but it was at a substantial cost of 63 points of tax.

So off I went into the Siberia of another offseason. My enthusiasm had waned considerably, so it felt like it was time to shake things up. With that in mind, out went prized prospect Alex Caruso and Jules Harms, and in came one of the league's premier big men-

We also welcomed back two time Defensive Player of the Year Matthew O'Connor, backup big man Gerald Pilkington, and sharpshooter Chester Elbert. We've also brought in intriguing newcomers Randolph Brown and Rudy Conrad. I think we've got some cost effective depth to go with our expensive pieces.

So what does this all mean at the end? Once again, I think there are better teams but I like the flexibility of the roster. You can pencil in Tex, RR, and Felicio as starters- expect to see some tinkering with the other two starting spots. My biggest hope is to rekindle the enthusiasm for the game.

I'll take your questions now.

Random Reporter: Ronnie Reynolds has had a bit of a rocky development so far. Do you view this as a potential breakout year for him? Could we see a pivot from Ronnie to Tex as the centerpiece of this squad if Reynolds underperforms relative to expectations again?

GWR: With the Bulls and Wolves making tax related steps back, do you see this as your division for the taking?

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: What is in the secret stuff that you give O'Connell to make him DPOY?

Is this the year Tex finally makes an all-league team?

I hope so. He had to deal with some injuries last season. Paired with having Cobb and Pastor around probably led to decreased numbers. But the TC boost was a good sign.

As far as the centerpiece, it's a 1/1A situation. They'll both need to be great for this team to go any further than a swift first round exit. I think Harrison's numbers are more indicative of how important elite athleticism is in this game.

While I am cautiously optimistic about my chances, I wouldn't count out either of those teams making it close. Both teams still have some impressive talent on board, and GMs from a mostly great GM branch that know how to compete in this game.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: After being traded to the Magic, Felicio had a nice training camp...something that he had a hard time doing in Chicago, where he was an important piece of the team, but never one of the three key players. With Cris being a big three guy in Orlando, what do you expect from him production-wise?

Maybe the shameful third team. Here's to the foolish hope preseason is a sign of good things to come.

Have you ever thought about Boban’ing O’Conner?

Nah, his ceiling is way too low. You definitely need a lottery pick type player to Boban. That being said, I'm happy having him for what he is.

His free throw shooting is a bit concerning, but I will start off with him as one of the keyed players. I think his ability to draw fouls will help the team as a whole on the offensive end. I'm hoping for the mid to high-teens as far as PPG, and somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 rebounds a game. If things wind up clicking, he won't hit 30 minutes a game because the team is blowing out the opposition.

The flip side would be not hitting 30 minutes a game because of foul trouble.
