The Wizards Don't Care About This Season

...I mean, we obviously don't want any broken legs, but other than that...

Last season was one of the worst I've ever experienced, and had Nick and the Pelicans not graciously agreed to help us out, it would've been the worst, period. The home sellout and 50+ win streaks were broken, but we still managed to keep the playoff streak alive. Didn't amount to much though, as a Tasmin Mitchell injury pretty much guaranteed a 1st round sweep. The glory days are over, folks.

So I awoke from my postseason slumber not really interested in doing much else other than retaining Wiz Kelly/Mosh, and bringing in a value signing or two. Well we did just that, what happened to all the money you wanted Ron? I hoped to see some improvement from TC, but yeah, that didn't happen. McGovern got impeached, and Tres tinkled all over Greg's big brown TC turd. Given that they were the difference between having a solid bench and well, what we have now, TC pretty much sealed it. This is an exhibition season. I managed not to trade our pick this year, so I don't even care if we suck, as long as certain players show that they can be counted when it's time to put together another playoff threat.

That being said, there are some things I'm excited about, namely Tazz & Cass' first full season together as the starting post duo. We're really hoping that this will be the nucleus that we build around. And though Trinkle, Brown, and McGovern really disappointed, Daily and Dixon have shown promise early, and might see more playing time this season as a result.

So...any questions?

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: With some decent building blocks to move forward with, what do you think the projected rebuild timeline will look like?

Should I be more like you, or should you be more like me?

If things go as planned, this will be the only real "rebuilding" year, as in, a season with no expectations other than player development and evaluation. Of course, any unexpected changes will extend the timeline, but we intend for this to be a quick turnaround.

You're the one with 6 rings, I think you already know the answer, my friend.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: You claim that this season is an exhibition season. What moves are you looking to make this season to put yourself in a better position for upcoming seasons? In short, what's your multi-year plan?

You managed to have three players average 20+ ppg in the preseason and Liberty dishing out 10 apg- does that provide any kind of optimism for you going into the season?

I already made all the moves I needed to this season. Take a good look at how my contracts are set up. While I would've liked to at least have the option of seriously competing, the plan all along was for this season to be a deliberate step back in order to set us up for future moves.

I would like to get up off my ass and earn some points, but we'll see about that.

Lol, preseason don't matter. It's nice to see that Liberty does have the ability to produce at a high level though, I was worried that she might be a fake blue. But again, let's see if any of this carries over into the regular season before getting excited.

In the event you tank and get a decent draft lottery spot, what kind of player are you looking for? A Tres not tinkling? A Brown not deucing?

Definitely a Tres not tinkling. We're pretty set in the trenches with Cassel/Mitchell/Kelly/Dixon. Another wing is exactly what we need. Maybe a combo guard if the pick's low enough, but a swingman that projects to be a starter would be ideal.
