Welcome to the Cavs Preseason Presser. We are pleased to welcome our All-America, Show-Stopper, Icon, Lord GM jlmarines.
GM jlmarines: This off-season was a huge success. It's a special day to celebrate. During training camp, as a team, we were one of most improve team in the league. During the free agent period, we were able to add nasty dawgs to our basketball team. We added C Eloy "Kong" Tilton. Kong is a hustler, plays with determination, grittiness, and willingness to sacrifice himself for the team. The Cavs also added C Sydney "Shanzilla" Shank. When Shanzilla is locked in on the ball, he’ll go get it and there’s not a whole lot anybody can do about it. I do want to take this moment to thank everyone, all of our staff, fans, and especially other GMs who has underestimated the Cavs movement. We love being underdogs!
GM jlmarines: First order of business, we fired our entire medical staff. Too many injuries caused a disappointed season. The good news we were able to convince CDC medical staff, responsible for the covid vaccine to quit their jobs and join the Cavs medical staff. Boston, Connell, and Hintz are healthier, faster, and stronger. I am pleased we were able to draft 1st round pick PF Raiquan Gray. Gray has big time potential. Gray has athletic abilities and tools to finish plays and defend his position. We believe Gray first year playing next to Shanzilla and Kong will be a major advantage for his development.
GM jlmarines: We are definitely excited and look forward to the season. I really think we were able to address many of the needs that we had. I think the league is for a huge surprise. No more easy wins against the Cavs. We cannot wait to start beating our main rivalry opponents which is 76ers and Thunder. Our future is bright. Enjoy the process. Go Cavs! Here's our starting 5:
C Tilton
PF Shanks
SF Hintz
SG Boston Jr
PG Connell

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: You've marked the off-season as a success. What are three things that you'd want to see in the regular season to consider the season as a whole a success?

What do you believe is still the biggest hole to fill on your roster that could hurt a playoff push ?

Training foul ratings was a good move, one that helped me make Delmar a star MVP honestly. Did you realize this hole in Tilton’s game when you signed him? How about BBJr?

You made some waves in the draft by passing over Moses Moody in favor of Raiquan Gray. Can you talk about your strategy leading up to draft day?

Brad Connell averaged double digit assists in preseason. Do you expect this kind of form during the regular season?

Look, I'm a big fan of Makergodzilla. I know the real Makergodzilla. I met him back in his college years at Illinois. The kid has so much potential but he's undisciplined. There's a reason why in college he was known as Makweiser. He spends too much partying. Last season he was fine for breaking protocol. He attended a strip club without a mask. His team needs him. If he changes his personal behavior, then yes he will be in our radar. He's a talented kid. Let him know the Cavs door will always be open. But, he better be ready. Cavs have no water break during practice!

Thank you for the great question. First, our young guys need to step up. Hintz, Barnes, and Ojo are no longer rookies. Their time is now, no more excuses. And I think they are ready to take their game to the next level. Second, Our players had foul issues. We went back to the basics. We expect SG Boston Jr and C Tilton to avoid foul trouble and play more minutes. Lastly, we need to win. If we can learn to play together and avoid injuries, I think we have a chance to win 40 games. I look forward to this season.

Great question. When I took over the team 2 years ago, Boston Jr. had no support. It was unfair to make him carry the team alone. People forget, Boston Jr. just turn 26-yrs-old. I think we finally brought pieces together to complement Boston Jr. game skills. Our biggest potential hole is our bench. Our bench is super young, raw, but with potential. If one of our starters get hurt, I don't think our bench players will be ready for a starter role this year.

Well the simple answer is no. It's hard not having Node. Sometimes, it feels like I'm submitting free agent bids kinda blindfolded. However, Cavs make no excuses. Tilton and BBJ had a great foul training period. I do expect both of them to give me at least 30 minutes of game time. It's a weakness that I'm fully aware and will address it by player training in the next few seasons.

We needed a PF. It was a weakness in our roster. Gray was the best PF available. Gray is a student of the game. He had a monster TC. Gray wants to help the team in any way. We are happy to have him. I expect a great future for Gray.

Absolutely. Connell is entering is 6th year in the league. Finally, the game is moving slower. He's embracing the leadership role. He understands the basic fundamentals of his position. We never gave up on him. We knew his potential. I think the league will now learn Connell has the ability to be the next great PG in the league. The only thing stopping him his injuries. He should have a great year. Thank you for your question.

GWR: A lot of your players have high quickness rating. Is this something you were actively looking for when building your team?

Good catch. Yes that's the goal. Our strategy is to outrun, outlast, out distance, and outpace our opponents. During off-season, our coaches surprised our players at their home and made all players run suicide drills. We don't care if we interrupted dinner, Cavs come first. We expect their quickness rating will produce more shots, more points and of course wins. Thank you for your question.

Looks like you're slowly building your team but majority of them are new to the game. What are your plans and strategy on juggling your rookies?

Great Question. For bench players, I focus on speed, stamina, and defense attributes. I am a firm believer defense wins championship. I'm looking for those cheap yellow-green players that no one wants. Also, like to keep my young players longer, give them time to develop to solid green players. The only bad outcome, I have to wait for a few seasons to really see the long term strategy to work. I think in my 3rd year, Cavs will finally make that huge leap towards the right direction. Thank you for your question.

I'm really excited for BBJ. Last few years we have forced BBJ to play SG,SF, and PG. BBJ was doing everything. It was the main reason he was in foul trouble and averaging about 35 minutes per game. BBJ is too good to play so little. Last two seasons we have improve BBJ foul rating from 15 to 35. We have signed "blue" veteran players and we have a "blue" PG. We expect for BBJ to play close to 40 minutes and just focus on his primary position of SG. If our strategy works with BBJ, then watch out, Cavs will be making serious noise in the Williams Division. Thank you for your question.

With your team having a high quickness rating, does the players having a high Stamina rating play a factor in that since your player stamina ratings are higher than your player quickness ratings?
