Whether or not trading with Chad to entice him to pick a player will be legal is subject to the results of Prop #2 (as of this writing, too close to call at 11-11).

If Prop #2 fails, then no, it is not legal.

If Prop #2 succeeds, then it would be legal to do so. A pre-expansion trade might look like this (either would be legal).

The Hawks send 10 points to the Bobcats in consideration for the Bobcats agreeing NOT to select Jeff Adrien in the expansion draft.

OR

The Hawks send 10 points to the Bobcats in consideration for the Bobcats agreeing TO Jeff Adrien in the expansion draft.

This makes it obvious why the Bobcats are receiving points and "locks" the player in either as staying with his current team or moving to the Bobcats.

No. "Pre-expansion" trades are defined as in the Prop 2 thread:

This means you are allowed to send assets to the Bobcats and in return the Bobcats agree to select (or not select) certain players. The Bobcats do not send assets back in such a circumstance.

All players the Bobcats select are immediately available for trade, with the stipulation they cannot be traded back to the team they were selected from for one season (to continue the example since we're talking about Jeff Adrien, if Chad selects Jeff Adrien in the expansion draft, Jeff Adrien cannot be traded back to the Hawks for one season, so he can't select Adrien then offer him back to me - furthermore, if he were to trade Jeff Adrien to the Bucks, the Bucks ALSO cannot trade Jeff Adrien to the Hawks until a season has passed from the expansion draft).
