Belinelli was the last good player. There is no way you would have selected someone over him. I see your point, but commish is right and I don't think this is the hill you want to die on. There is no way someone else was on your radar at this pick.

I was definitely not going to pick him.

Well I hope you wouldn't quit over this, and if you are really quitting over this, then I'm really sorry to hear that. So I hope you reconsider.
Also, for future reference, if you are unsure you'll be around for your pick, there is (and has always been) the option of sending a list of picks to the commissioner to ensure you get who you want.
But again, i hope you reconsider quitting.

Wig is being more lenient than with DC's in the Quail reign of terror. See: Pacers.
You can probably trade down and get a point and your guy if you appeal to your people.
I will say, as I said before: this is a little rushed. They pace can be fast, so a little more prep is best for everyone. We have to accept imperfection (not picking), but we should not accept failing to levy simple improvements.

If we were held to the same standard as you, then the pick would have been simmed at 11:15 PM. So the fact that it wasn't checked every 5 second, it bought you time, which you still didn't meet.
Past options:
1.) Make your pick
2.) There's always the ability to send a list.
3.) There's also the ability to say This is my list, but please don't pick until my time is up in case I'm working on a trade or would prefer to pick myself if I can.
4.)There's also the option to send a list and before your pick if you're on to cancel it and select it yourself.
5.) There's also the option of trading it if you you see rl stuff coming up.
Current Options:
1.) There's also the option of taking accountability for your own mistake, saying it sucks and moving on.
2.) There's also the option to trading the guy who was just drafted (who was BPA) and possibly even making points.
3.) Sulk and quit because you messed up.
So with all of that. You had and still have plenty of options. It seems like you're looking for an excuse to be upset. I'm not really sure why maybe a bad week or day which we all have. If that's the case, we're with you and will stand by you. We like having you here, and don't want you to leave, but you're making a mountain out of a mole hill if this is truely what you're upset about.

Where does it say anything about sending a list in this thread? And wouldn't that make it unfair to the picking team?? The commissioners are GMs too, so I don't see the advantage of sending a fellow GM my list of potential picks. No one is sulking. I'm upset because I find this situation pretty unfair.

It's a double-edged sword. If we don't hurry and start the draft and wait a full day we get bitched at. If we start the draft the morning after the lotto (and updated draft file), we are rushed.
Since I stepped down i can drop the veil a bit and not be as nice about it... people need to Fryeing understand that being commissioner takes a LOT of Fryeing work and commitment to something that takes hours to do (free agency alone takes about 10-15 hours of inputting alone), and we aren't paid to do it. Does nitpicking and calling out every little thing help? Yes and no. It helps to know where things can be improved. But radical changes (or even simple ones) take more effort than one can think. The system we have in place here is something we have built from scratch over 100s of hours of deliberation and arguments.
But rules are rules, and the draft process has been in place since the get-go. As for the Commissioners being on every 5 minutes and being held to the same standard... if that was the case, then this pick would've been simmed at 11:30 last night instead of 7:30 this morning. Leeway was given, as wig said "if the gm picks after the time slot in the draft thread but before the pick is simmed in the thread by a commish/inputter, then that usually is allowed".
Being commissioner is a thankless job with zero pay and hefty time commitment; remember that when making complaints about how shit is run around here.

Quail, and whoever else: my point is not to increase time between the lotto and draft start. Rather, have the players and stats up at least by the Finals. They studying up can be done in parallel.
It does alot, including dampening the sensitivity to one day life events that will always take precedence.
It may not have been an option this season, but it seems a good way to get at least the lotto picks studied up. Also, if it is going to go 2 days for sure, you can maybe set a "depth" cut off. After pick 15, no time limits for the rest of the day. Do the next picks the next day, so a racing draft does not blow by a guy, but you stay on schedule, too.
ETA: To be clear, I get thankless jobs. I have one, and my thanks is being ridiculed and plagiarized. Here, we all have little jobs and a few people have big ones. I think Quail is nicely saying, "Do all your Fryeing jobs so I can do mine." Pick on the verb tense if you wish, but I mean the current draft job.

Yes, that is all I mean. They players were not right, so it is hard to comb through the data.
It can be done through the season, maybe.
I am a big believer in doing certain things in parallel to compress the schedule rather than trying to do them all in sequence.
Also, some inputting, maybe can be streamlined, like alphabetical submittal, and the like. Maybe some people can do some error checking in advance to leave inputters inputting. Just random ideas for another thread.
I'll take Bellinelli for points, brah.
