I really think this is insane. Nothing personal ofc. But I haven't trained a player since I've come back. Why? Because I've has older players...Which cost more money. I chose to forego trainings in order to exceed the cap. It's crazy that the people that do this should be punished even more? That line of thinking.....I just don't get it.

Its one more than the point you made that you couldn't train a player though.

I'm all for more harsh lux tax penalties. I also think that taking a look at in season re-signings might be a good solution to the watered down FA problem.

I do think this is worth a vote in the offseason to remove in-season resignings. Will help with the FA problem. I mean this FA class could have some nice wings added if not for resigning.

These is a good deal of looking at solutions without really looking the problem in detail, collecting multiple sides of the complex "economic" issues, and discussion. People are grinding personal axes, spouting pet arguments, or lobbying for themselves obliquely. Typical politics, typical bullshit.

Is it possible to reduce the number or likelihood of in-season resigning? Is it possible to modify the offers, even after the fact so they are harsher?

I think the idea in the OP is worthy of consideration.

In all the BS in this post, I haven't seen an argument for keeping ISRs...Anyone?

I brought this up on Skype. In season renegotiations are hindering FA far more than RFA. These maxes in RFA would be super maxes/maxes in FA with their original team so it'd give the illusion of a better FA class. The in season re-signings are pretty much a joke. The contracts some offer are absurd then these old but very good players offer for 3 years and it's an easy accept.

As for harsher luxury tax, maybe the new point system changes it, but I for one can vouch it needs to be harsher. I believe this is my 8th or so straight season in the tax and again I won't have to beg people to take players or send picks to unload contracts. I'll be able to afford my bill again. That shouldn't really be able to happen. Again, maybe it's solved without the ridiculous MVP points, but that's just my experience with it.

I have benefitted from In Season Negotiations (Penny, McDyess). There is a possibility u would benefit next season (Big Ben).

And I still say get rid of them. If I can't keep my guys on the open market that's my problem. Looking at you, Pervis.

I prefer getting rid of RFA instead of in season signings. Also we used to be able to negotiate in-season signings. I figure it's a lot of work for the inputters which I understand. Another option is to establish a soft cap and hard cap with a luxury tax in between.

It's like FA inputting + DCs every sim. WIG that.

But i like the idea of a hard cap and a soft cap.

I say get rid of in season resigning and rfa. Let's just go crazy during standard free agency.

I think we have enough for a vote on getting rid of ISRs.

Let's open an RFA discussion thread and a harsher lux tax discussion thread as well?

Yeah, I think it's pretty evident that most people here are indifferent to ISR or want it to go. So I'm going to make the call:

Starting Season 14 (2003-04 Season), In-Season Resignings will no longer be an option.
What happened to this league. I thought the new regime brought about the ability to have our voices heard through voting.

But seriously I'm good with this decision.
