If you have and expiring player, is he more likely to resign with you?

Not really. Nothing is guaranteed unless he is an RFA. Players have taken less money to play elsewhere before.

As mentioned, expiring players that are RFAs (only those players finishing the 4th year of a rookie deal) have a direct advantage in re-signing (that if they choose to go elsewhere you can choose to match and keep the player at whatever salary they agreed to elsewhere).

Other expiring players may or may not give you an advantage depending on whether the player has Bird Rights (currently his player page will show "Bird Years: 2" or higher). If he does, you can offer him a contract of up to 5 years (everyone else is limited to 4) and/or up to 12.5% year-over-year raises (everyone else is limited to 10.0%) AND you are allowed to exceed the salary cap to re-sign him.

That is an indirect advantage in that it doesn't guarantee you can keep a player. Generally, the trend seems to be if one contract offer is significantly more than another, the player will take the bigger contract; however, if the offers are comparable (within a few percent in base salary and/or raises), the player might take slightly less money to go to a team he "thinks" is a better fit... but most of the time it comes down to who made the biggest offer. In addition, players may sign shorter deals for small amounts of money rather than longer ones with a low base salary but higher total compensation (I think of this as, "the player isn't happy with any offer, and rather than locking into what he feels is underpayment long-term, he'll chose to get underpaid for a year and then try his hand at free agency again next year in hopes the next year he will get the big payday he thinks he is due.)

Willing to package Murdock (becomes expiring contract next season if you decline his team option) with up to 10 pts to take back a couple lesser, longer contracts (3+yrs). Looking to get some wing depth. Holla back yo

Injury to Ben Wallace means I find myself desirous of a little big man depth (something better than Don MacLean) until he gets back. If you have a minimum-contract big that can defend and rebound and want minimum-contract Rex Walters, hit me up. Depending on relative quality of players, points may need to be involved one way or the other.

Hm... P.J. makes over $3 million... Walters makes the minimum... Hawks are within $100K of the salary cap... unless you've found a *really* creative way around the salary cap here, I don't think a P.J. Brown trade is going to be able to happen.

(Don't get me wrong, this isn't a talent thing or knock on P.J.; it's purely a cap thing)

Jim Jackson still available if you're in search of a purple talent that scores 20+ points per game.

PM me if interested, We have sign-up on lock down because of constant spammers, don't know if wignosy can help us on that. But either the commish of IJBL or I can add you and send you back your login info.

Thanks...
