Thanks for the welcome gentlemen. trying to catch up on how this league works. Can someone give me a quick run down on where in the season we are at right now. What important things are coming up (trade deadline, signings, etc) that i need to do asap when i get a team?

Each sim goes for 2 weeks in game. We are currently on January 10.

Friday sim will be Jan 10-23
Monday sim will be Jan 24-Feb 6
Wednesday sim will be Feb 7-Feb 20. Both the all star game (2/11) and trade deadline (2/17) fall during this sim.

As far as resignings go, the relevant thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=237

Other important things a new owner should know:

1. We have a restricted free agency system for players coming off the 4th year of their rookie contracts. Check the free agency forum at viewforum.php?f=31 for RFA rules and especially look at last year's threads to see how it was done. You will NOT lose your expiring rookies unless you choose to lose them (e.g., Kobe Bryant). Do NOT panic and trade them for half value because you are afraid you might lose them.

2. We operate with the Stepien rule, that is to say, you can't trade first round picks if it would leave you with two consecutive future seasons with no firsts (need not be your own). Note that says future years - if you traded a first last year, it doesn't matter now... You can trade your first this year because last year is no longer in the future.

3. The "current" and "future" ratings are a shorthand for how good a player is or is projected to become... But actual production varies based on the other ratings, so a green ("4") might be more productive than a blue ("5"). Compare for instance, the Wizards' Juwan Howard (extremely productive) with the Kings' Shandon Anderson (not so productive). Use those as a start but be aware they don't convey nearly the picture that all the 1-100 ratings do.

Wow, jeolousy does not look good on you guys.

Dont listen to em prep, Shandon just doesnt get the minutes compared to others but is a leader in efficiency and one of the best bench players

Kobe Bryant would also be a Restricted Free Agent on your potential squad as well that you'd have the ability to match and offer a super max 5 year contract too as well if you were to get them.

And as far as Ervin goes, you'd have to send bids to whoever is running Free Agency in the offseason if you hope to resign him.

You can but we don't have anything set up where you can view your team.

You can play them anywhere in your DC, so it's not really needed like before. It's dynamically change.

Fyi, I highly recommend against trading any of your draft picks or "core pieces" (read: starters) until you have had a couple of weeks to see how things work. Several owners will be happy to give you trading advice if you are looking at a trade offer, so take advantage and get a third party's perspective before rushing into any big trades (e.g., get ballsohard's opinion before trading with me or Quailman's opinion before trading with Tani).

Also, get on Skype chat if you haven't already. Put your Skype nick here and someone will add you.
