Hello, friends. We're still doing this, so I'll keep doing these. Onto the show-

Image

I had big expectations going into last season and for the most part, the team was up for it. The regular season was going well until 8 losses in the last 3 sims knocked me out of the top seed down to the three spot. After quickly defeating the Knicks, we found ourselves matched up with the Spurs again. Despite stealing a game in San Antonio, we could not capitalize and were eliminated in 6. Another offseason of misery commenced.

Going into the offseason, I was facing a four time repeater tax. I wanted to reset, but not without an appropriate return. After fielding some inquiries I was lukewarm about and evaluating my point bank, I decided to re-commit to contending, but not without some tweaks. Out went Nick Lynch, and in came a point guard I've had my eyes on for some time- John Blakemore. Roderick Pastor left for greener pastures, but we were ok with that- we had to cut some payroll. I'm hoping that the development of secondary guys like Tirado, Mata, Milam, and Tucker can help offset the scoring loss.

So the big question- what does this all mean? I'll follow with the same big answer- I don't know! This is a good team, but it's been the same problem in the playoffs the last few seasons- I can't beat good teams. I will never count out the defending champs, the team that eliminated me probably got better, and there's always a surprise contender. I'll keep rolling the DCs out every sim and keep my fingers crossed.

GWR: It seems some of your questions about the offense were answered in the preseason, as you lead the league in points per game. Is there anything you can take away from that?

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: it is no secret this team can score, but are you afraid that every game is going to be a track meet and the defense of this team will prevent a championship run?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: The Magic are the only team in the Wiggins Division currently more than a vet min cut away from being under the apron. As a 4 year repeater with enough money to pay the tax and a current roster that looks like the strongest in the division--and one of the strongest in the league--are you more likely to entertain moves to make the title contention argument stronger at a higher tax bill or to try and get under the apron to reset, even if it weakens the team a little bit?

Are you going to give Mata full starting minutes this year? He's become a staple on your team it seems
Somehow I manage.

The standard caveat applies- it’s just preseason, so it’s not the best indication of things. I also turn pace up to the max for preseason sims, so it’s not the most accurate sign of things to come.

But based on attributes, I do expect a good three point shooting team and top five spot in assists.

Hopefully! If not here this season, then elsewhere- look for him on the trade block in the coming offseason.

See my above reply to Raby. Based on attributes, I’m not too worried. Let’s get some regular season sims in. Adjustments will be made as needed.

I don’t see myself selling unless things go horribly off the rails. If I’m in the mix and a GM out there is interested in Milan, picks, and/or points, I’ll make a move to add if it looks right.

Good eye. With Pastor leaving, Mata is starting and getting the majority of the PF minutes this season. I like the toughness he brings, he’s a real glue guy.

Are you worried that too many glue references is a real...sticky wicket?

I think the only team that should be worried about glue references is the Mavericks.
