Hola amigos. We’re back and the preseason presser is crappier than ever!
Last time we were here, I said to expect a lot of losses. Boy, was I right- we stumbled our way to a 4-37 start. With an eye towards next season, and wanting to avoid the odious distinction of 70 losses, I pulled off some trades midseason and brought in Jules Harms and Matthew O'Connor. After the trade deadline, the team was competent enough to be a .500 team, but still good enough to tie for the fourth worst record.
Our fingers were crossed for the lottery, but we dropped to fifth. Not having a shot at the best prospect, I knew it was time to go in a different direction. We dealt the pick away and welcomed Rod Pastor back to Orlando. We also took on the salary of Dom Cobb for more outside shooting, and brought back Ronnie Reynolds on a superma, Jules on a sizable contract, and Candelaria on the MLE. While we focused on win now moves, one opportunity was too hard to pass up. Dealing away Kostas and Shank for Alex Caruso was a trade for three seasons from now.
So what the hell does all this mean for the upcoming season? I'm not really sure- there's probably enough talent (and payroll) here to be a playoff team, and the power poll seems to agree. I'm sure there will be some gameplan changes along the way, and maybe I'm not done dealing yet.
I'll take your questions now.
