Piggybacking off of this, I would add... are the college players too raw?NOLa. wrote:Piggybacking off of Darth's tanking point, at one point early in the league I felt that tanking was out of control and it was looked at as the way to get the best players. I did this for TMac and Demarcus Cousins myself. Fast forward to today and we have college players that take their whole rookie contract to usually be decent players and non-winning teams have raised the point that they can't train players because they don't generate enough points.
Do you think we unintentionally created a sort of balance to tanking, or have some GMs not taken advantage of other opportunities to generate points?

Can we talk about how this probably isn’t completely true and all you have to do is look through the jaylen browns, buddy pedrozas and dirk harpecks?DarthVegito wrote:Piggybacking off of this, I would add... are the college players too raw?NOLa. wrote:Piggybacking off of Darth's tanking point, at one point early in the league I felt that tanking was out of control and it was looked at as the way to get the best players. You have different kinds of GMs. One's that are perfectly fine with not being competitive for 10+ years. And i think the rawness of the players extrapolate that tendency. For instance... this year was the first year i drafted in the lotto. Realistically i couldn't turn this team around quickly if i wanted to considering how long it takes for guys to develop. I don't think every drafted player should be green/ blue or blue/ blue but there's no mix. All the blues are yellow or orange with currents in the 30s. Give teams that want immediate help an option in the draft. Thats realistic. Every year the NBA has a handful of rookies that have great seasons right out the gate. Even if that comes in the lines of green/ greens in the vein of Stumpf or a big that will pull down 11 RPG aas a rookie and not much else. There's no real incentive to trade down for guys like that because it's just BPA because they are all so damn raw you just have to pick the best one.

I definitely think you both have a point. There are guys like Pedraza, Hardpeck, Nix from this past draft that come in ready now. My point earlier was incomplete in that I wondered if there weren't as many opportunities to generate points needed to get the raw guys up to speed or if we are leaving points on the table. I haven't gotten close to getting to the media cap the last two seasons but I was having good winning seasons which helped me. I may not be able to hang my hat on that anymore, but definitely some of these guys are raw.DarthVegito wrote: Thu Oct 04, 2018 4:52 pm3 players in the last 15 years. I agree with you totally. We should give more points in general starting this season. 10 instead of 5 for participation. 6 instead of 3 for voting. You are absolutely right Tani! Great idea!!NOLa. wrote:I definitely think you both have a point. There are guys like Pedraza, Hardpeck, Nix from this past draft that come in ready now. Given that I supplied so much of the content, I think I deserve some compensation, eh?DarthVegito wrote: Fri Oct 05, 2018 8:55 pm This was awesome as always guys! This pod had 8-9 GMs listening LIVE. A THIRD of the league listened to your live podcast. Simply amazing guys. Keep this up and it was fun joining you as well!
Point Czar awards Josh 6 pts!
Point Czar awards Raby 6 pts!

All I was fishing for was a response. I’ll take it.
