I'd like to nominate Jeffrey Duren for the Most Improved Player award. Duren is notable for being benched for two seasons due to him coming into the league raw and made his debut last season as the key 6th man for the Kings who made it to the Finals. I decided to rebuild around Duren and he has improved both due to volume of minutes gained and due to efficiency. I'm not going to list every statistic and show you what jumped, just highlight the key areas that matter.

Player Link: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/players/player70.htm

Notable Achivements/Stats:

* Awarded MIP from computer
* PPG jumped 12 points (from 8 to 20) while improving in FG%, 3P%, TS% and PPS
* Improved to an all around player, averaging 6 rebounds and 6 assists per game
* PER jumped from 18 to 22
* Recorded 4 triple-doubles this season

Duren has exceed my expectations so far and he's still pretty raw as a player, but I think he's growing into a franchise-level player and this season was a huge step in that direction. Any vote is appreciated.

A Case for Arron Magness:

Who? Yea, I said Arron Magness. A nobody. An oversight. No one knows who he is or what he does. He's not a franchise cornerstone or highly touted player. He was a 3-star talent coming out of high school ranked #147 in his class. He stayed in school, grew his game, became the Mountain West Conference player of the year. But this is the NBA, and he was a nobody again. Not even a 3-star talent in the eyes of most GMs. He needed a change to make his presence known, and wasn't able to do that with the Pacers in his rookie season. We, in the Bucks front office, caught glimpses of his potential last season, and made it a priority to bring him in as a project piece. Give him a chance to showcase his offensive talents.

Image

Quick Hits:
- FG% dropped 3% (50% to 47%), but his 3P% skyrocketed from 11% to 42.1% (#17 in the NBA)
- PPG went from 2.6 to 13.0, TS% from 51.9% to 56.5%
- Scored single digits in the last 2 months of the season TWICE (in 23 games)
- In April alone, he averaged 18.6 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 47.2% from the field... higher volume just as efficient (a microcosm of his MIP-esque season)
- PER jumped up 15.7 this year

Magness may not be a household name now, but he has the potential to become a local fan favorite for his grinding and scoring. Here's a guy who came from nothing and is 100% self-made. He's here to prove that he's only going to get better, and after just his 2nd season in the NBA, all signs point to yes.

Arron Magness, your next TRUE MIP

Season LGE TEAM G GS MIN PTS ORB DRB AST TO A/T STL BLK PF FG% FT% 3P%
2018 PBSL TOR 82 82 36.4 16.1 0.8 3.6 5.6 2.5 2.26 0.8 0.2 2.8 .452 .796 .350
2017 PBSL TOR 82 44 26.7 10.3 0.5 2.5 4.5 2.0 2.27 0.9 0.2 2.6 .381 .823 .330

FG% took a HUUUUUGGGE jump from 38.1% to 45.2%.

If that doesn't convince you, lets look at Advanced features.

True Shooting percentage went up from .501 to .562. Big improvement while keeping essentially the same Usage. Points per shot went from 1.12 to 1.26

and PER jumped up from13.0 to 15.7

During RFA, I begrudgingly matched Marcus Smart's offer. "What the hell am I paying this guy for? Guess I better start him." Well, one TC boost and 75 regular season games later, I don't regret matching that contract anymore.

Offensively, he had a career high in scoring- 12.4 ppg with a usage of 16.8, lower than his last two seasons. But he's not really here for his offense. Smart made his presence on the defensive end.

- He landed a spot on the first team for all league defense.
- Lead the league in steals
- Last season: Plus/minus of 0.9, OEFF of 104.8 and DEFF of 104.0. Not exactly impressive.
- This year: Plus/minus of 9.6, OEFF of 110.4 and DEFF of 97.2. The team was better with him on the floor.
