2017-2018 6MOY Campaigning Thread (Due Saturday, 11/18 @ 11:59 PM Central)

Post by garbageman »

Is there a special man on your team? One who isn't special enough to start, but more special than any of the other bums on your bench (or someone else's if you're into scouting out your friends' benches)?

Convince us below by campaigning!

And remember...to qualify to be a 6th man, your nominee has to have come off the bench more games than he started.

RULE FOR THREADS: You are allowed to make one post about yourself (edits of your original post will be allowed) or another GM. There will NOT be any goading or attacking other candidates to create nonsense drama like previous years. Any additional BS posted in threads will be deleted. The campaigning period officially ends at the deadline listed below.

Campaigning begins now until 11:59 PM on 11/18.

I'll nominate Chandler Parsons, the New York Knicks Glue. After making the trade for Rudy Gay, Parsons had to accept a permanent role on the bench, and he has performed very well playing 3 positions off the bench (PF, SF, SG).

For the season(as of sim 9) he is averaging 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, on 48% shooting and 42% from three. He was around 28 MPG before the most recent starts because of the Gay injury. He is up to 29 MPG now. Parsons is also rocking a TS% of 58% and a PPS value of 1.23.

I was originally going to nominate Anthony Davis for 6th man of the year, since he does the work of both a starter and multiple bench players, but then I saw the rule about having to come off the bench more games than started, so he's out.

I'll nominate Taj Gibson, who's adding in 7.2 points 6.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 25 minutes of work per game.

I present to you the true 6th Man of the Year: Sean Kilpatrick.

Sean picked up where he left off last year.. except got better. In 29 MPG, Kilpatrick has posted career highs almost every stat category (heading into Sim 12):

16.3 PPG
4.1 RPG
2.8 APG
0.9 SPG
0.2 BPG
16.7 PER

With losing Kanter and having Hollis's scoring drop off, Kilpatrick was asked to be the spark plug off the bench and is our 3rd best offensive weapon, stepping in at the 1, 2, and 3. Without his contribution off the bench, we wouldn't be where we are at.

Just want to nominate Lawrence "the fakest green ever" Arbogast, a rookie that played only 19.9 minutes per game.

MPG 19.9
PPG 9.7
RPG 3.2
APG 1.2
SPG 0.7
BPG 0.3
3P% .422
TS% .571

I think the computer got this right- I'm nominating Ersan Illyasova of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Sure the Cavs just barely missed the playoffs (looks like by tiebreaker), but he had nice numbers. He was sixth in minutes for the Cavs and came off the bench for all 82 games. In 26 minutes per game, he averaged:

-16.8 ppg (2nd on the team)
-5.2 rebounds
- .595 TS% (2nd best of his career)
- 22.5 PER
