Simple enough. It's sickening how random and monumental it is. It's not a representation of a players skill or potential and the fact that less effort (ie putting in recommended) can award or hurt a team just as much as taking the time to train players is silly.
This is the one thing I enjoyed more in the other league. A sense that the game won't all of a sudden make the past 3 seasons a waste of time.
Come to think of it TC will cost me a real life year + trying to build and rebuild a team after TC shit all over it.

You know. As someone who's never really had a guy nerfed, I still kinda agree with Inner (and I don't think I've ever typed that before). It's pretty sad what's happened to the Sun over the past 5 or however many seasons with that mostly not being the guy's fault.
I'm not sure that turning it 'off' is possible or the right answer, but is there any way to keep the game from completely Fryeing an owner?
The problem with autoing everybody is that some "recommended" trainings are retarded (not news to anyone who's been around a while). You'll see guards with INS of 7 and PSD of 8. Not always, but some players I look at when inputting and im like WAT
I'll be honest, and this is coming from someone else who kinda got burned, I'm not so sure that things were any better back in the old league. Think about it. We had fewer attributes to look at, vague letter grades, and no color ratings for quick-glance judging. Now think about all the guys back in the old league who suddenly seemed to stagnate, or the guys who couldn't fit into a gameplan despite looking ideal for it, or the guys who came out of nowhere to make contributions despite no real changes to their letter grades. Now that we've gotten more in-depth with this system, we're seeing why those things happened. Maybe those were "blues" who went "green" or "greens" who went "yellow," all without much change in on-court statistics. We couldn't see that back then, but now we can, and it can look pretty ugly at times.
In short, I don't think anything's changed in terms of how the game works (despite it seeming to go crazy over the last few seasons), I just think that since we have a lot more info to look at as well as the quick-look notes in the color ratings, we're becoming more aware of and sensitive to how radically the game can change things.
Knowing this perhaps the next best alternative is to offer a "paid by points" training option to restore a player to his previous year's ratings. This would cost 50 points and could only be done once and only for players 28 and younger. (Just throwing out numbers for sake of argument here, age 25 or 60 points cost could be just as good)
I want to preface my unpopular opinion below with this. I feel sick for Inner J2 and all the other teams who've been destroyed by TC. It's a terrible terrible feeling and it knocks the wind out of you and makes you consider leaving. I'm sad this seems to happen to the same people over and over.
Now onto the body. As someone who's been destroyed by TC, i've grown to hate it. Then tonight I was walking around my place and was kind of hit with an idea. Isn't TC the real deterrent to tanking in a world where we know the future? Think about it for a second. My prime "rebuilding" season I landed a pick which turned into AK47, who's turned into a pretty good 5th starter. That's it. Look at the Suns. They traded all their talent and ended up with KVH, O'Neal, AI and Jayson Williams. Without TC, everyone in Inner's place would feel entitled to a championships or at least a bunch of very strong runs.
If the future of these players turning into what they were irl were absolute, it really take a lot of the strategy out of the game and really makes there 1 way to build. Meaning, there would always be a logjam at the bottom of the league to get the top spots and teams trying to outdo one another for that prime talent. With TC being so unpredictable, that's not really the case. Sure, there have been teams who have built mainly through the draft like the Kings, but for every team like the Kings there's been a team that's been destroyed by the draft.
I know it hurts when it happens to you, and that's speaking from experience, but without TC being so random we could probably pick out the next 5 champions 5 years out and that's not that fun.
But building through the draft is still one of the only viable ways to build a team. It's what this entire league considers assets.
In the case of the Suns. I see two possibilities. I stick with this team and hope for bounce back training camp and be stuck in the 44 win rut and first round exit, or I trade everything away again and try the draft all over.
Stars switching team is pretty rare and the teams that can acquire stars acquire them with draft picks and under 25 players with potential.
What irks me about TC is that the recommended option can return the same or better results. That's like putting in same for your dc and winning the championship.
The sure randomness has started to feel less and less random in my case. It's okay I'll eventually get over it.
I've used both recommended and my own inputting and both have hurt my ratings. Its just really random and overall seems like a waste of time and effort. Did recommended one season and killed Kenny Anderson and other inputted seasons have killed Detle Schremp, Brian Shaw, Byron Russell and now Ruben Patterson among others.
Also, if building thru the draft does not work consistently, then the only other way to build a team is by traping.

Exactly. This is what annoys me about TC. Recommended should give you back average results. Not an extreme to one end or the other, but it doesn't. We could sim this offseason 29 times and each team would likely get screwed. To me, it just makes TC a crapshoot and kind of pointless.

Building through the draft doesn't work irl consistently.
