This Sim's Division Representatives:
OPEN PICK'EM - first to post from each division gets it (as long as you didn't do it last week)
You may claim a point if you provide a write-up/rationale for at least 5 picks - though feel free to do more! Otherwise, you're just competing for the divisional race which awards 5 points per GM in the winning division at the end of the season.
Pick the 10 games with the spread below and rank them in confidence from 10 (most confident) to 1 (least confident). You'll get 10pts for winning your most confident, 9 for second, etc. You will then be paid off the following scale:
1st - $1000
2nd - $600
3rd - $200
4th - Nothing but shame
The team with the minus number is the favorite (needs to win by at LEAST that number). The underdog just has to stay within that number. If the game is marked (pk) there is no spread.
3/18/2014
Supersonics (pk) @ Timberwolves (pk)
Magic (-10) @ Lakers
Pacers @ Nuggets (-3)
Clippers (-7) @ Grizzlies
Trailblazers @ Spurs (-6)
Knicks @ Mavericks (-9)
Wizards (pk) @ Heat (pk)
Rockets @ Nets (-4)
Pistons @ Jazz (-11)
Bucks (-6) @ Cavs - this game is on 3/19, but will work the same
Example of picks:
10. Wiz pk
9. Nets -4
8. Pistons +11
etc.
10. Pistons @ Jazz (-11)
Uhhhh. . . Is this a mistake? No way Jazz cover against AD and LMA.
9. Rockets @ Nets (-4)
No Biyombo and Horford on the road against Kaman. This doesn't bode well for the Rockets.
8. Pacers @ Nuggets (-3)
Sandbag spread from Ryan here. The Nuggs have won 4 in a row without Klay and happen to have a defensive stud at PG that can match up against the Pacers one man band.
7. Bucks (-6) @ Cavs - this game is on 3/19, but will work the same
The Cavs beat the Bucks the last time they played in Cleveland. May or not happen again here but I can't see the Bucks winning by 6.
6. Wizards (pk) @ Heat (pk)
Going home team here. Nothing more to say other than I'm playing the odds.
5. Knicks @ Mavericks (-9)
Wow! What a matchup! The Knicks either win on the road or get blown out. The Knicks have the Mavs' pick so I'm going to say the Mavs play with a little extra motivation and cover here.
4. Magic (-10) @ Lakers
The Magic are not a good road team and the Lakers have played decent ball at home recently. I don't think the Magic cover here.
3. Supersonics (pk) @ Timberwolves (pk)
The Sonics have won one road game without Isaiah Thomas (against the Clippers oddly enough). The T-Wolves aren't a bad home team. Timberpups pull this one off.
2. Clippers (-7) @ Grizzlies
The Grizz have been hot and they have an arsenal of wings to throw at KD. Clipps may win this game, but they won't cover.
1. Trailblazers @ Spurs (-6)
The Blazers beat the Spurs by 6 at home recently, with their guards outdueling the Spurs bigs. It's always tough to get a win on the road in San Antonio so the Spurs probably win but won't cover.
Supersonics (pk) @ Timberwolves (pk) - I'm just hoping the Timberpups pull away in my tankathon.
Magic (-10) @ Lakers - C'Mon Lakeshow. Win this game PLEASE
Pacers @ Nuggets (-3) Clippers (-7) @ Grizzlies -
Trailblazers @ Spurs (-6) - I think the Spurs can figure out how to use Zbo. Knicks @ Mavericks (-9) - Pretty sure I can cover 9 points against the Mavs.
Wizards (pk) @ Heat (pk)
Rockets @ Nets (-4) Pistons @ Jazz (-11) Bucks (-6) @ Cavs
10.Knicks @ Mavericks (-9) - The Knicks are baaaaaaad - I don't think this one is close in Dallas
9.Magic (-10) @ Lakers - Lakers have a differential on -9, largely helped by a reasonable early season record.
8.Wizards (pk) @ Heat (pk) - Wizards have been so-so lately, and so-so on the road.
7.Trailblazers @ Spurs (-6) - Spurs at home are $$$$$$
6.Bucks (-6) @ Cavs - Home dog, love it. Bucks to win by 3 or 4.
5.Clippers (-7) @ Grizzlies - Grizz have been great lately, and the Clips are not the best road team.
4. Pistons @ Jazz (-11) - It's a big number, but the Pistons are not a good road team. I think Paul George covers the spread by himself.
3.Rockets @ Nets (-4) - Rockets may win this outright. What were the oddsmakers thinking?!?!?!
2.Supersonics (pk) @ Timberwolves (pk) - I have no idea. Rooting for the Raby tank.
1. Pacers @ Nuggets (-3) - Nuggets don't have Klay, so while Amare will score ALL OF THE POINTS, I don't see the Nuggets covering.
10: Supersonics (pk) @ Timberwolves (pk) - Struggling and away, the Sonics look to steal a road game and try to claw back into the playoffs. I think they can here.
9: Magic (-10) @ Lakers - LOLakers. Seriously though, the magic started out as one of the surprises of the season. Many thought they'd be lotto bound after their off-season (myself included), but they have nutted up and proved everyone wrong. However in a tight race for the Eastern Conf Playoffs, a bad sim last time sent them to the 10th spot. Luckily they are far from out and have about 1 month to make up ground (starting here).
8: Trailblazers @ Spurs (-6) - Winner of this game could swap spots in the playoff seeding with the loser. I'm going with the Blazers in a shocker.
7: Knicks @ Mavericks (-9) - WOOF. The real loser here are anyone in the building looking for legitimate basketball. I'll take the home team.
6: Pacers @ Nuggets (-3) - Nuggets will need Rajon to play that stellar d against Deron. If they can just slow him down some, this could be a score getting run up like the Saints v. Rams game last football season... even without Klay.
5: Clippers (-7) @ Grizzlies - Grizzlies soaring again, 8-2 in last 10. I'm not sure they pull out the win, but I think it's a close game (either way, I'm in).
4: Bucks (-6) @ Cavs - This barely makes the spread, as Cavs and bucks have had some stellar showdowns this season. This will be another Nailbiter.
3. Wizards (pk) @ Heat (pk) - powerhouse basketball right here. Wizards win a tight one on the road.
2. Rockets @ Nets (-4) - No Horford? NETS be like... KAMON 78
1. Pistons @ Jazz (-11) - on the sad news of the Jazz losing long time owner/GM/Coach Prej, Jazz come out deflated at home and lose to the struggling pistons.
