This will be relatively brief as I'm still out of the country and only have a phone and limited time/internet access.
Last year, we ended with the second worst record in the league. Our big signing, Demarr Johnson, was injured less than halfway into the season. It set up our young guys for more experience, but it also helped us secure the #1 pick in the draft which netted us the future of the Golden State Warriors: Stephen Curry. Curry has the potential to be the greatest scoring point guard in PBSL history. It's my job now to make sure he amounts to that and that that results in championships.
With the 10th pick from the Magic, we selected Danny Green, the 5th rated player on my draft board. Green brings elite shooting ability along with tough defense to this team. He's one of those guys every team needs. With Curry, Green, Johnson, and Novak, we look to become the best 3 point shooting team in history.
In RFA, we decided not to retain Ike Diogu. Diogu was paid closer to star money than starter money, which was simply too steep a price to pay. With Curry and Jordan, we don't need to rush into anything drastic at the risk of a bad contract.
We struck out in free agency as well, missing by just a few million on a multitude of players. Unfortunately, that will probably keep us out of contention this season. We were, however, able to land a variety of vets by overpaying on 1 year deals. This allows us great depth for this upcoming season while allowing us to maintain our flexibility moving forward.
Our plans this year are to let Curry go off, build the defense around DeAndre, shoot the crap out of the 3 ball, and make the playoffs. We feel we are just a year or 2 away from serious contention and this is the next step.
We'll now open the floor to questions.
