1. Shaquille O'Neal. Drafted by Rockets, traded to Bucks after 7.5 seasons. No titles.
2. Alonzo Mourning. Drafted by Celtics, traded to Supersonics after 9 seasons. 2 titles, both with Celtics early while on rookie scale. Interestingly, this pick was traded away by the Celtics, was passed around, then traded back to them at the draft where it was used on Mourning. These titles were won with the help another draft pick (just 1 title), free agents, and players acquired in trade, but Mourning was by far the best of them.
3. Latrell Sprewell. Drafted by Clippers, traded to Hawks after 7.5 seasons. 2 titles with Hawks.
4. Doug Christie. Drafted by Supersonics, traded to Celtics after 7 seasons. No titles.
5. Robert Horry. Drafted by Bucks, traded to Wizards after 1.5 seasons. No titles.
4 titles at the top of this class. 2 later in the career for Sprewell, 2 early for Mourning. He was the best player on a title team, and quickly. Good job to build around him quickly, too.
There's no "I" in team, but you can find "Eat me" if you push it too far.
Funny story. The Celtics actually had a top 2 protection on the pick, and were projected #7 in the pre-lotto order. Pick then proceeded to jump to #2. That Conroy luck...

Dude. Interesting.
An example of good drafting and GM'ing, not just lucking into something.
I'm new here, but so far Conroy is in the lead for best GM in league history. Further study may change my mind, and there's a ton of that to go.
More of these over the coming week.
