Top Nine Drafted Paid Training Suggestions

Post by AngryBanana »

Hey everyone, I’m back with another article! This one is an old theme I did a few years back where I look at some of the top picks from this years draft and try to help those people who drafted them get the most out of them. The idea is I take each pick, look at the points available for the team in their bank (and boy did I rate seeing some of the banks and the lack of counting by GMs. It really shows why some teams really compete consistently while others don’t…) Anyways, I took each player individually and said what I thought the best use of the points would be. I ignored if there were other players that were also drafted and talked about in this article. Anyways, I was going to do 10 l, but I have pick 10 so I just decided to stop at 9. This is also just suggestions based on what I think I would do, so do what you want!

Pick 1:
PaulyP wrote:With the 1st pick of the 1991 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers select---- Dikembe Mutombo, Center out of Georgetown!
Point Bank: 64 points

This starts out fun because he is purple, and you can’t train purple (no matter how hard Quail tried to make that a thing) with that being said given he has points to throw around, I would say train Dikembe’s PFL rating but that is an 81! So looks like Pauly is going to be saving some points for something else. Theoretically if I was Pauly and I could train Dikembe, I would put the +5 to 21 into QKN for 8.6 points and STR to 80 for 12 points. Netting a total of 21 points.

Total: 21 spent
New Bank: 43

Pick 2:
NY_Magic_Garrett wrote:With the 2nd pick the New York Knicks select Steve Smith

Point Bank: 21 points

Ok. So for pick two, this is hard to do again because the Knicks haven’t been doing things like media, or other involvements, to get points. So looking at Smith the best thing would be bumping the jumpshot to an A potential. The Knicks I think have to decide, if they train, what is Smith’s role going to be. A SG or a SF. Ceballos is also on the roster who is another SF under contract for a few years, but I think Smith is a lot better all around. However given their limited points that I already pointed out, I think the best bet is to train something that would be universally helpful to him. So I’d actually train his JPS current to a 60, spending 3.6 there, INS current from 47 to 50 for 5.4, and strength to a 64, spending 12points. The idea behind this training is to one get him shooting more and 2, with his 6”8’ frame, I’m hoping that he develops into a slasher who can get to the bucket with his size and score. This is then spending the exactly 21 he has. Hopefully he then gets more points this season to get that potential up (or save for next season and do that spending instead). I know the Knicks were not happy about TC, but Smith looks like still a solid PG for the future.

Pick 3:
Jedihero wrote:Nuggets select Bobby Phills
Point Bank: 56

First off, JediHero is a lazy bum. He hasn’t counted his points in several season. He knows it, I’ve reminded him and he’s just responds “Suck my Nuggies”. I don’t really care, but he’s missing out on being able to make Bobby Phills a special player. Now, looking at him, he is the kind of player who needs some development because he isn’t really great at any one spot. So it’s a situation where Jedi can play around and do a few different things. Personally, I’m looking at the C in potential for the INS and I think that’s the first place to address. So I’d put up 25 points for that. He could then either stop there or he can train the 52 PF or the 27 handling. I think I would do the handling and put up a full 10 going to a 37 for 15 points. He isn’t going to get a lot of playing time this season on the Nuggets roster, but these will allow him to both put better numbers up in limited minutes, while hopefully allowing him to grow more in future TCs.

Total Spent: 40
New Bank: 16 (but should be like 40 that lazy Frye)

Pick 4:
K-100 wrote:With the 4th pick, the Dallas Mavericks select Kenny Anderson
Point Bank: 203

Ok. We have a big baller brand point bank here. 203 is nothing to scoff at and I don’t think K100 is going to spend a bunch here, but he maybe should in the event everything may go according to what his plan may be (Shaq). That being said, let’s look at Kenny. First off he has a 62 at PFL. Let’s just get it out of the way that I would put the 20 points down for it to be 72. Now, at 6”1’ Kenny is a PG who has a pretty good skill set already he is working with. He has all As and Bs in the fields you want to have them. Also, with Skiles on the roster, he doesn’t need to start. He really doesn’t need to be trained at all, but that isn’t fun. So I would personally pay to increase his PRD to an A now that we have this rule “A = 3.0 points (per BigDaddyD8720); note current ratings cannot be increased beyond 85 with paid training regardless of potential rating”. So let’s be safe and just assume that the PRD tops at the 70 it is currently at and that would make the PRD 45 points?! Yeah, maybe not if it’s that much, but for the sake of the article we will keep going. After that I would pay to increase the current on the JPS to 55, for 18 points then for athletics it would be STR from 34 to 39 for 11 points and the JMP from 79 to 80 for 3 points. This allows him to pump good points into his player but stay flexible for who he gets moving forward.

Total spent: 77 points
New Bank: 126

Pick 5:
LazyTitanSmash wrote:Lakers select Terrell Brandon
Point Bank: 9 points

lol. 9 points is a rough start. The only thing worse is the Nuggets having 0 because they won’t count them. As a quick side story, I thought this was the suns at first and equally ripped into them for having not counted their point bank (they are currently at 0 points). Anyways, let’s look at Brandon. He is slightly smaller than Kenny and is dangerously close to being so short, that he never actually is a capable starter, in a Bouges type of player. That being said, he is actually playing decent mins for LTS according to pre season. He has one glaring hole and that is his INS currents. He is not passing much, but scoring. So with the limited bank LTS has maybe invest there. So we’re going to pay 7.5 (or 8) points to bump the his INS up 5 points to 40.

Total Spent: 8
New Bank: 1

Pick 6:
Xist2Inspire wrote:With the 6th pick in the 1991 NBA Draft, the Vancouver Grizzlies select Rick Fox, SF from North Carolina.
Point Bank: 70

Another bank that actually has been healthy to a point where they can meaningfully increase the players ability. Rick Fox was drafted as a y/g player with a chiseld jaw line, and a silky smooth voice that would definitely show that He Got Game. Anyways, he was someone that I thought was ready to produce out of college, but I think Fox may have took a bit of a hit, or not enough of a jump, in TC. However, at 22 and with the build I think X is trying to build Rick may not have to move to the silver screen just yet. I don’t think he will be a core player for X, so the training will reflect that. Let’s first train his PFL. At 51, it’s not terrible, but you want your guys to stay on the court and not have fouls make their impact get hampered even more. That’s 20 points. That’s already about the cap I would spend on him. So, X could also pivot, and I maybe would ultimately do this too, but if he kept this he could also spend to increase INS to 40, costing 2 points.

Total Spent: 22 points
New Bank: 48

Pick 7:
RPF wrote:With the 7th pick of the draft the New Jersey Nets select, Dale Davis, C out of Clemson University
Point Bank: 37

RPF may have some other guys on his roster, but don’t let it fool you. His pre-season 0-6 is definitely a look into what his season is going to be looking like this year. He’s hopefully going to get the wins he needs and then moves off players he doesn’t need long term. Dale is a good player to start the rebuild. He had 19ppg and 11 Rebs at Clemson, shooting .569 on the year. His early return in PBSL isn’t quite the same but RPF can hope he grows as time goes by. A good start is going to be improving his INS. That will hopefully start the process of getting him to a point where he produces something similar in PBSL, to what he was doing in college. So that is bumping to a B, which is 30 points.

Total: 30 points
New Bank: 7 points

Pick 8:
Xist2Inspire wrote:With the 8th pick in the 1992 NBA Draft, the Vancouver Grizzlies select Stacey Augmon, SG from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
Point Bank: 70

So this article, we’re acting as if each pick is individually associated to the 70 points, so we will ignore the Fox training above for this exercise. With that, we have the starting SG? For the Grizz in Stacy Augmon. He scored 13th and 2.5 assists per game. He also wasn’t a big contributor with the passes in college, so he is a scoring first guard. He is also 6”9’ so he very easily could play the 3. With that being said, I think I would focus more on the defense with and put up his PSD. Going from a 26 to a 36, costing a cool 15 points. I’d even consider bumping the potential up to a B, but I’d wait another year and see if the TC gods help with that. After that, if I was feeling feisty, I would bump his JPS currents up. I wouldn’t do the full 10 because idk that he needs it. So let’s say 5 points, to 53 costing a total of 9 points.

Total Points: 24
New Bank: 46

Pick 9:
RPF wrote:With the 9th pick of the draft the New Jersey Nets select, Greg Anthony, point guard out of UNLV
Point Bank: 37

We have back to back picks where we are having to ignore the other pick the Nets already made. We’re now going to be looking at Greg Anthony! He also jumped in TC where he went Blue Pot! This is a great thing for RPF and his rebuild. He now has a PG and hopefully a big to go with that. He also has very limited points so that makes it again hard to decide how to invest in this new PG of the Nets future. I’m noticing that all these guys have mostly needed improved INS, but then again we are supposedly moving to an outside shooting world? So we could look to try to improve his shooting stroke since he could be the Nets starting PG. He had a 9/6.7 point/assists split and those points could help solidify his offense this season. There is a bigger problem this pg is facing though. Fouls. At 50, I’m for sure pumping points into that part of his game. So we’re going to just do that and call it a day. Going to 60 for 20 points.
