S72 42PHD Coach of the Year Award

Post by Jedihero »

Anybody who submits a nomination can claim 1 point (excluding self-nominations)

Max is 1 point, even if you submit nominations in other categories

Winning nomination gets an additional point like last season

Submit your nominations by the End of Conference Finals Sim.

LINK YOUR AWARD NOM, if you do not link, the item will still be posted but if it wins - the person that nominated will not get the points.

I nominate Jon. He has managed to win his division both his division as well as the conference. Both were majority improved with teams like the bulls, Celtics, Mavs, and Heat going all in making big trades through the season. However, Jon built a really good team, that withstood some injuries along the way, and was able to build a great contender.

I'm going to go with RPF and the Nets http://pbsl.ijbl.net/rosters/roster7.htm

In a season filled with dominate teams at the top having a ton of talent. The nets managed to win 52 games, and secure a 2 seed while everyone else talked about the pistons, Celtics, suns, warriors, heat and bulls. Just a solid and less obvious choice from the dominate teams.

Mike Lowry - Miami Heat

I really like what the Heat did this season, especially at the trade deadline. They added a pair of 2-way talents in Huo and Murphy III without selling the farm. While this may not be the soundest financial strategy long-term, the Heat are no strangers to tax jail, so it is refreshing to see a GM just say Frye it and go for gold. You cannot win if you do not try.

I feel like my ballot is turning into a love fest for Superman, but it's refreshing to feel assurance that the guard has changed.
That Suns team will get past the Pistons without a doubt.

I also want to point out that there is no award for GM of the year, and if I remember correctly these were supposed to merge.
If it was strictly coach of the year I would be inclined to vote for RPF because I think he did the greatest job of squeezing production out of the least talent, but if you include making moves this season to improve your team, it's far and away Superman
What cha gonna do

It might just be named coach of the year, but I would label it more as this category is everything to do with the team itself and running it effectively, while the Walter Payton Manning award is to do with everything outside of the team on this forum and the group chat, which can also include how easy it is to discuss and execute a trade with them.

But to each his own how they want to see it.

I nominate AngryBanana for COTY. He was a playoff team a few seasons ago, took one season to rebuild, came back to the playoffs and is now on his way to a conference finals. While also beating the #1 seed in his conference. Great season

For my nomination I am putting up BigDaddy with the Pels. Finally got himself into the playoffs with a team he is rebuilding that looks like it will cause havoc for a few seasons. Doing everything well and it finally paid off for him this season.
