Re: Re: S87 Town Hall 5

I think there is an interesting trend so far in the league… in the regular season, you have to lean on dominant big men to rack up wins. The everyday grind rewards rebounding to give you extra possessions and without the extra points threes can give you on outside shots (since nobody takes threes at ...

Re: Re: S87 Town Hall 4

I think the Lakers’ demise has been vastly overstated. When Magic left the Suns, they collapsed. When the Lakers added him, they skyrocketed. Magic is still in his prime. He didn’t decline in TC. He is still going to be MVP. The Lakers’ schedule to this point has been road heavy so their record is ...

Re: Rockets Post-Trade Press Conference

OBJECTIVE: 348 words (includes your responses to questions): 1 point (250-499 words)
SUBJECTIVE: This is a fun idea for an article that encourages some back-and-forth. It's very specific and a little self-serving since it's about your team, but I would love to see this become a habit after trades ...

Re: Hitting the Gym: Evaluation of the Training Room

OBJECTIVE: 1,175 words = 4 points (1,000 - 1,499 words)
SUBJECTIVE: I loved the premise of this article, though the depth of analysis was a little bit uneven (analysis of how training would affect each player was about the same throughout; however, some trainings led to additional discussion on ...

Re: S8 Bold Predictions

OBJECTIVE: 1,733 words = 5 points (1,500 - 1,999 words)
SUBJECTIVE: This is a decent premise for an article, though none of the Bold Predictions are explored in a lot of depth. While this nominally covers the whole league, it really only covers a handful of teams/GMs. I enjoyed the read and wouldn ...

Re: Allowing Players to be trained into Purple

I vote no as well.

Agree with Dig, and wish we could just end training all together. It favors winning team, and hurts teams dependent on the draft and makes people want to trade less.

I sort of agree with LTS here.

I think we should continue to allow "Current" ratings to be trained up to ...

S8 PRESSER POINTS (1987-88)

I will start by reminding everyone of the rules:

Pre-Season Press Conferences are a good way of announcing your plans, goals, and expectations for your team for the upcoming season. Brag about your moves, give your players personalities, and have some fun. Not to mention, it's an easy way to grab ...

Re: Re: S87 Town Hall 3

The Jazz need to make a move. They have Kurt Rambis 2.0 in Rodman and with those guys, Schayes, Thorpe, and McKey have an embarrassment of riches in the front court. Danny Ainge is FINALLY producing but has just one contract year left after this one. Now is the season for the Jazz to try to sell ...

Re: S87 Town Hall 2

I think the implication of re-pricing training will be marginal at best. I think you will see more “low A” (85) potential players but is the difference between, say, a 78 and an 85 score a game breaker. I don’t think so,

I think it will negatively affect GMs that rely on quick gut feel to make ...

Re: Portland Trailblazers Pre-Season Presser 1987-88

It was unfortunate we got robbed of what this team could've accomplished last season. You said it yourself that losing Bailey in the offseason stung but you were able to get back a young prospect in Newman. How much are you relying on Newman to step up and run the second unit? Do you imagine a ...

Has Jim Petersen made any comments since the PBSL world exploded with question marks regarding his contract? Does he still like the deal?
I think he finds the whole thing hilarious. "Why wouldn't I want more money upfront?"

Portland Trailblazers Pre-Season Presser 1987-88

The cat is leaned back in an office chair, feet up on the desk, using a nail file to sharpen the claws on his right foot while the assembled press waits. Finally, his eyes narrow he speaks.

"Frustration, that's what. Losing James to a broken arm in the final week of the season meant we went into ...

Any concerns about Kevin Willis? His production took a dip in the pre-season; does that speak to a lack of focus, change in role, new offensive schemes, or do you think he'll be able to return to form?

Roy Tarpley and Gerald Wilkins got sizeable minutes increases in the preseason and gave you commensurate production increases. Which of your young up-and-comers do you feel has the greatest potential to "make the leap" to stardom this season?
