Let's be real, the only choice is Melo. He's probably my best player but has been best suited in the sixth man role for this season. No other sixth man comes close to his productivity.

PPG: 23.1
APG: 3.1
RPG: 5.9
FG%: 54.8%
TS%: 64.3%
PER: 28.1

I'm nominating Gordan Giricek for REAL 6th man of the year. No fake shit here, he's a legit bench player that helps out.
7.3 PPG shooting 42% from the field and 85% from the line and making 37% from the 3 point line. So the choice is pretty simple to go with the real candidate. His stats might not be bigly but they are something from a 6th man.

I'd like to nominate Dwyane Wade. vote for him, there's not any other choice.

PPG: 21.1
APG: 5.7
RPG: 4
FG%: 53.2%
TS%: 62.2%
PER: 26.6

Some may say, "Balls, Wade is either your best or second best player. You just played him at 6th man for the award. That's cheap." and they'd be right, except I didn't do that. because I started him. Because he's one of my top players and there's no excuse to play him off the bench. So I take it back. Don't vote for Wade!

The Chicago Bulls proudly present to you their nomination for 6th Man of the Year
Image
Danilo Gallinari
Danilo embodies everything that a sixth man should be. His injection of scoring off the bench put him 2nd on the Bulls in terms of Estimated Wins Added behind emerging star James Harden. He contributed 13.2 PPG with a respectable .392 percentage from behind the arc. The third year player didn't mind coming off the bench to back up the more rebound hungry Paul Millsap, and when Danilo was on the floor with the second unit, you bet your ass that he was one of the Key Players that his teammates would look to...at least according to the depth chart.
Image
At only 22 years old, Danilo has a very bright future ahead. The tall, mysterious Italian is also noteworthy for being handsome. If he were to be the 6th man on The 5th Wheel, everyone would pick Danilo, and you should, too.

For Christ's sake, the dude loves basketball so much here he is shitting some basketballs. That's gotta earn him some kind of award, right?

Vote Pau Gasol. Yes, he'd be a full-time starter on a lot of other teams, but with Joakim Noah's jump in Training Camp this year (finally) and with Tim Duncan still incredibly productive, I had to pick one of those three bigs to come off the bench (his 30.7 minutes per game is a solid number reflecting his importance, but less than Duncan's 31.4 and Noah's 33.3 - I'm noting this now as these numbers will probably change over the final sim of the season as I'm locked into the #2 seed so my rotation will be very different than usual to keep my guys healthy).

Pau posted 16.9 points per game on .472 shooting and added 6.4 rpg, 2.2 apg, and 0.9 bpg for me as the anchor to the Hawks' second unit. He's done a great job filling from time to time as a starter, even at SF, when I was dealing with injuries or having to shuffle lineups between trades. Steady. That's been Pau.

If you prefer advanced metrics, his PER was a stellar 19.5, his TS% .528 and his efficiency numbers were 106.7 Offensively and 99.3 Defensively - only Tim Duncan, Devin Harris did better among players that got over a handful of minutes on my team. EWA estimates that only Duncan and Harris have meant more to the team this season in terms of wins and losses.

While his stats may not be quite as impressive as they were when he won 6th man of the year in 2008 due to our having upgraded our talent at other positions, he is still a highly-valued member of the Hawks team and having him as our "third big" is a big reason we've claimed the Central Division Crown this year.

Vote Pau for 6th man of the year.
