Knicks Preseason Presser
It's time once again for another Knicks season and we're looking to continue our success from last season after our playoff drought finally ended. Our core starters from last season Evan, Bye, McIntyre, and Jordan will be returning with Haun joining them in the starting line up. Leonardo, Hodges, Pitcher, and Lujan will continue to be our bench core this season. We've added some new talent with Colton, Bower, Moran, Koch, and Griffiths. Basically we have a solid overall line up and I've successfully created system basketball in the Sim League with the success our Second Unit has had in recent seasons. I think I finally have the team that has no weak players on it that I've been trying to get for many seasons. As usual I like seeing who fits and then bringing them back next season so that trend will continue. We have our starters all signed for 2 more seasons so we're set there. Once I implement Phase 2 then the next gen of our core will take over after that so I've also managed to create an MCU style farm system set in phases. Basically our starters from last season (including Bulter) and Lujan are Phase 1. Phase 2 will be Haun, Leonardo, Hodges, Colton, and Kapp with probably some hold overs from the new signees this season. Phase 3 planning will begin after they phase out and I start getting my next crop of talent ready to take over. It's time consuming and most people probably thought I was insane when I went this route originally but it works for us. I expect continued success this season. I'm hoping to make the playoffs again but I think we will win 30-35 games this season at minimum. Hoping we can improve on last season's success with our improved bench this season. It's going to be tough considering how much parity there is in the league and how many teams upgraded this offseason.

Did you bid on Bulter this offseason or pass altogether? He's still pretty strong at Center even after this year's TC.
Somehow I manage.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: do you think this type of team building will eventually lead to a team that can win 50 games?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: You mention the MCU. If you had to cast the Knicks roster as Marvel Superheroes, who would play who?
Re: Knicks Preseason Presser
Do you see other teams in the league with the pieces to also successfully create system basketball in Sim League? Or is the league as a whole too obsessed with overpaying star players instead of developing more solid team-first units like you managed to do in New York?

Nope. He's still pretty strong, yes, but I saw a drop off the last two seasons with comparable game minutes and Haun was playing too good not to start this season.greepleairport wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 11:29 amDid you bid on Bulter this offseason or pass altogether? I think so. It got 43 wins last season but there are 1 or 2 players who played below their ability levels which is why it didn't get to that point. If that trend continues I will actually make a trade or two to rectify that problem especially considering the guys on the bench can play at a similar level.AngryBanana wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 11:31 amChet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: do you think this type of team building will eventually lead to a team that can win 50 games?

Bye would be Iron Man, Evan would be Captain America, McIntyre would be Spider-Man, Haun would be Black Panther, Jordan would be Hawkeye, Lujan would be Nick Fury, and I would be Dr. Strange.garbageman wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 12:34 pmSham Smith, Bulls.com: You mention the MCU. Right now I see teams in Phase 1 of it but are still in the early stages. Dallas was one team that stood out with that when we barely beat them to get into the playoffs last season and the season before that too. The league as a whole is too obsessed with overpaying star players which is a mistake. You need a total team from top to bottom with injuries being a factor. Star players pad stats and awards but it takes a team to win games. Team building is something that has been overlooked especially with how this league is trade focused. I trade at the minimum amount possible and it's worked out well for me long term.K-100 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 2:31 pmDo you see other teams in the league with the pieces to also successfully create system basketball in Sim League? Sources close to a sane person claim the career 39% record of GM Verga contradicts this statement.

Sources must be code word for coward since you don't have the balls to ask this using your real profile name.

Scruff McGruff: How much of your assets do you think it will take to get off of Jordan's overpay?
Re: Knicks Preseason Presser
Not much. He's probably a good fit on another team but isn't a good fit for this team anymore. SG production is what's holding the team back. I just need a starter who can put up slightly better stats meaning double digit scoring. That's it. That's the only thing this team is really missing. I think we're set at the other 4 positions to be honest about it and that includes the bench players.ballsohard wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 9:53 amScruff McGruff: How much of your assets do you think it will take to get off of Jordan's overpay?
