S52 New Season Notes

Congrats to Eazy P on winning a 4th ring with a really killer team, and congrats to runner up AngryBanana on putting together an excellent season with an excellent roster.

Now that that's been said, there's nothing else to do for S51, so might as well get rolling with S52. This season should already be archived at pbsl.ijbl.net/2040, so I'll switch things over tonight, including the draft lotto. As much fun as it is to create a ridiculous puzzle for one guy to solve, I'm not doing that this offseason. Just going to post it up with little fanfare.

This offseason (and probably throughout the season), I will be much busier than normal, but hopefully able to run things without any major delays. Anyone with main node access who is able to help keep things running smoothly will be greatly appreciated.

A few notes about volunteer jobs:

1. Pick 'Em Coordinator -- This isn't an essential job, so if it's not filled, that's fine. @AngryBanana mentioned stepping down possibly, and @greepleairport seemed interested in stepping up. I'm ok with whoever is (or isn't) doing this, but figure it out between you two, and let me know so we can discuss any changes to how things will be run (if there are changes) so I can make sure that changes make sense.

2. Media Coordinator -- I'm considering this position vacant, and until someone grabs it, I'll handle it since it really didn't take me all that long to do it this season. I am decreeing a maximum of 10 meme points (down from 15).

If you want to be meme coordinator, you'll get 5 points. The expectation is that media points will be awarded in a timely fashion. It shouldn't take more than a week to tally points for pressers, and it should take even less to throw an article into a word count tool and post an appropriate number. Memes can be totaled at the end of the season (or more often).

It'd be cool if a new media coordinator had an idea on how to improve media points. Right now, there are some exploitable loopholes (Breaking a 2000 word article into two 1000 words article--i.e. an article about the whole league vs. that same article split into alpha and omega--gets someone 10 points instead of 7 or 8) that I'd like closed.


And a note about a rule change:

In lieu of both the recent rule changes with trades, I am ending the 1 sim vet min loophole.
1) With the redaction of the 5 player/pick limit, it would be possible to game the system by signing like, 7 vet mins to trade for a high contract player
2) The loophole calls for force trade, which in turn, calls for manual DCs, which are more work for me.
3) It's objectively cheap.

So, in short, stock up on vet mins early, because they're going to be subject to the 60-day rule this season. If you don't like it, feel free to volunteer to take over as commissioner.
