I want to try to launch something new this upcoming off-season between TC and the start of regular season.... SLOE Fantasy Basketball! The league will require a 10 Round draft. Probably cap at 10 teams. It will be a 8 or 9 category league, and the rankings in the league will be based on the highest team accumulated points for the entirety of the season. I will post updates throughout the season which will rank the update the standings.

We could do a buy in or no buy in. But there would be no trades, no mid-season signings (for simplicity's sake).

Roster would be:
PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, C, Util, Util

Depending how the 1st season goes, we would potentially work in cuts and signings, as well as bench spots in the future (altho this could be a pain in the ass to track ).

Would there be an interest in this? I just want to see what the turnout would be if others are interested.

ON THE WAIT LIST, WHY NOT GET INVOLVED?! We can also offer this to wait list GMs (Wombataholic and PrepP) to get interest in the league going. If there's a buy in, they can receive "trial points" in order to participate; if they win, they would then deduct trial points from the take-home pot total or keep the entire total take-home pot... whichever is ok with me. The points they win can go into their GM bank which would be transferred to their team bank upon starting as a GM (similar to media pts). If we go the route of recouping trial points... if GMs-in-waiting don't win the league, they can deduct those "trial points" from their bank total.

If this turns out to have a lot of interest, you could have a SLOE Fantasy Basketball Cooordinator up for elections next year.

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. I think this could be really fun, and wouldn't require a lot of attention during the season... would just have to follow the standings.

A fantasy basketball league for a sim basketball league!? This is where the Singularity begins.

Simception

I think it's a cool idea for a betting game...the team limit kinda limits the inclusivity, but I understand that if all 30 teams were in, it'd basically just be another sim league. Inspired idea: what if you only draft a starting 5 and have to stay under a much reduced cap?

The team # cap is not set in stone. The great thing with a category league is that we don't have to worry about even or odd numbers for head 2 heads (since there is no head to head)

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT SIM DATES FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 2015 SEASON

Due to my schedule, there will be some minor tweaking of sim dates for the remainder of the 2015 season, thus:

Sim 9 will take place Friday 6/2 at appx 5 pm (normal schedule)
Sim 10 will take place Monday 6/5 at appx 5 pm (normal schedule)
Sim 11 will take place Wednesday 6/7 at appx 5 pm (normal schedule)
Sim 12 will take place THURSDAY 6/8 at appx 5 pm (one day EARLY)!

The college tournament is going to be slightly accelerated and should start on Saturday 6/3 (tomorrow!). We will try to get the tourney field up today. Sim Vegas, please take note.

The goal is to have the college season finish by Wednesday so that we can have the "real" draft class in place and uploaded to the index concurrent with Sim 11 or no later than 12.

PLAYOFFS WILL BEGIN EARLIER THAN USUAL - ON SATURDAY 6/10 - AND WILL RUN ON SUNDAYS
Round 1, Games 1-2 - Saturday 6/10
Round 1, Games 3-4 - Sunday 6/11
Round 1, Games 5-6 - Monday 6/12
Round 1, Game 7 - Tuesday 6/13 (if necessary)

My hope is to complete the playoffs no later than Thursday, 6/22 as my availability will be spotty at best the weekend of Friday 6/23 through Sunday 6/25. Offseason schedule will be forthcoming as we get closer to that date.
Not exactly sure of the playoff DC procedure, but since there isn't a thread up, and I won't be around all day, I'm in via TV if they're still due today.

How is home court advantage work in SIM league for the playoffs? Maybe the index page isn't right but I was just looking and I somehow had home court over the Bulls, but I don't have home court against the Raptors. I am confused.

To be honest, I don't know. In theory, record should be the indicator as to home court as it is in the real NBA, not seeding. But who knows how the programmer put it in.
