Exactly. FBCB actually generates random players and sims development across all 300+ colleges (not just D1) and draws its draft pool of players from those.

I will see if I can post a single sample of what the college sim outputs later today.

This seems pretty legit. Think it's got my vote.

Okay, here's a sample of what the college league would output:

Just to clarify. We are saying that the FBCB would be run by the CPU. No user controlled teams right?

Not too late but if it's human controlled teams I'm probably voting no. Lol

When the current ratings in college are imported into FBB Pro, will they be sorta translated into a dumbed down/rookie-ized rating?

I've had the college software for years now and always loved it, I would vote for that option!
Pacers Ring of Honor
P.Ewing (90-93, 98) - R.Pierce (90-91) - S.Augmon (91-96) - D.Brown (93-96) - D.Strong (91-97, 99-02) - P.Pierce (98-05, 12-13) - D.Williams (05-17) - I.Shumpert (11-16) - D.Dedmon (13-18) - J.Williams (19-25, 31-32)

In light of the college option, I am now on board with this idea.

This is a good question. The answer is they are "dumbed down" but the dumbing down is randomized a bit each time the import is run. I took the draft file created from the sample college output ( http://pbsl.ijbl.net/college/) and imported it three times. Here are the results... you'll note both "current" ratings and "potential" ratings vary a bit from import to import. A player's college potentials will not necessarily be his pro potentials but are generally in the ballpark.

http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport5/
http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport6/
http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport7/

Compare the college page of a high pick like Daniel Coats of Illinois with the iterations of his imported rookie self's pages:
College: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/college/players/player4173.htm

Import 1: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport5/players/player42.htm
Import 2: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport6/players/player42.htm
Import 3: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport7/players/player42.htm

Or another lotto pick, Ismael Mitchell of Villanova
College: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/college/players/player916.htm

Import 1: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport5/players/player95.htm
Import 2: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport6/players/player95.htm
Import 3: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport7/players/player95.htm

Or see a little random variance in the imports with Francis Diehl of Mississippi State
College: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/college/players/player3070.htm

Import 1: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport5/players/player64.htm (green potential, projected #9 pick)
Import 2: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport6/players/player64.htm (blue potential, projected #5 pick)
Import 3: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/fbcbimport7/players/player64.htm (blue potential, projected #4 pick)

Interesting, that Daniel Coats guy had some pretty big variance. definitely interesting. But since we'd only be importing once, we'd never know the variance. Still, this continues to be the clear cut best option by far!

Something about those draft files bothers me a little, and it reminds me of IJBL, which is one of the reasons I was dead set against created players in the first place. Most of those guys are o/b or o/g, and I noticed that training camp completely wiped out a lot of those o/b guys in IJBL. Is it just something the import naturally does, creates guys coming in as oranges?

That's a good point, Raby. Having guys come in orange is a bit concerning.

Yeah, but what i'd love to see is all the players in college. And then when the playoffs hit, the people staying removed. So that way people can be depressed/excited for certain guys and really follow it.

Wouldn't that just be what the entire college game is??

If you look at the way the imports work, you will generally notice that high potential players tend to leave school early while lower potential players stay (just like real life).

This means the 18 and 19 year olds generally have more potential than the 22 year olds. However, the 22 year olds tend to be better now because they have had more time in college to polish their games (also like real life).

So you see a lot of 18 year old o/g or o/b guys, a few y/b and a couple 22 year old g/g or g/b guys. It actually feels more realistic to me. Don"t forget too that players get a TC between draft and rookie season so most young guys come in better than they look in the draf file.

Yes, it does mean a lot of waiting most of a rookie deal for your would-be superstar to blossom. But looking at the real NBA that seems to be normal. Besides, do we really want drafts where rookies are in the MVP discussion?

I am not as concerned that TC will slam the talent pool like it did the IJBL because we have TC insurance, which the IJBL did not. If not for TC insurance over the past few seasons, we would have a lot less talent in our league too (most teams have two or more players that would have lost talent in TC if not for insurance).

Yes. Guys who declare for the draft (and go into the draft file) are removed from college.

Wig stated it, but training camp insurance should protect them and allow us to actually develop players rather than hoping we get the top guy who is already all NBA like Anthony Davis.
