ACTION: With pick #1 the Knicks take Nikola Jokic.
REACTION: Within minutes of this selection the Knicks announced they were shopping Nikola Vucevic. That is a crying shame because the Knicks being led by the Knick'ola twins would be tremendous. Guess it goes to show that the sim gods favor teams that put forth effort - remember the Knicks went on a 7 game win streak to end last season when they could have tried to complete the crash and burn - or maybe they just didnt want to deal with hearing whining any more. Either way the Knicks now have a two way C who needs to train hard on athleticism. Just dont screw it up and forget to insure him or you know the sim gods will SMITE.

ACTION: The Timberwolves select Anthony Wiggins with pick #2.
REACTION: Don't think the liveblog has forgotten when the Wolves got the #2 pick and grabbed Chris Bosh, who instantly caused nightmares for the whole league with his freakish offensive talent. They just did it again. Wiggins reminds a lot of Carmelo Anthony - he may be a bit allergic to defense but he is so good on offense it doesnt matter if he gives up 20 because he will drop 35. The Timberwolves now have a very nice set of perimeter pieces and will be on the hunt for a rim protector in FA.

ACTION: The Lakers select Joel Embiid with pick #3.
REACTION: Embiid has better athleticism than Jokic but looms as a potential defensive stud. The Lakers now have two super long young players but need to figure out how to unload Bynum and Miles. They dont have a lot of cap flexibility and will need to open a window in the next couple of seasons where they have cap space to add some pieces before they have to fork over the max to their young building blocks. Of course, it was taking on contracts that ruined their cap that allowed them to get those guys in the first place so...

ACTION: The Hornets select Jabari Parker with pick #4.
REACTION: Nick takes a lot of grief but Parker has a nicely balanced game without a lot of weak spots. He probably needs training to peak as high as guys taken ahead of him. Dont be surprised if he makes a run at ROY though, especially if Lillard can't stay healthy. It isnt like Moz is gonna take shots from him.

ACTION: The Bulls select Gary Harris with pick #5.
REACTION: The Bulls threw some shade themselves with this pick, claiming the previous teams forced them into it. Harris looks like he can turn into a nice 3-and-D two, but with Sessions and Harden (and Harris not really possessed of the size to play the 3) I don't know how much run he gets this year. It is cute to watch a Bulls team that feels entitled after the Heat took their home court advantage in round 1 and bounced them like the NBA Jazz bounced the Clippers.

I think the liveblog DID forget -- I got Bosh at #4

The liveblog is not interested in your alternative facts, sir. Especially when its facts are more interesting.

REACTION: The liveblog knows all. The liveblog has a deep and intimate connection with the simputer. Run for your lives.

ACTION: The Knicks select Jordan Clarkson with pick #6.
REACTION: Prior to this pick, Knicks' trade block said they were looking for an upgrade at SF/PF. The liveblog agrees that this is one of their biggest needs. The liveblog thinks it was foolish of the Knicks to pick Clarkson, despite his ability to get his own shot already. The liveblog suspects Clarkson is a conscience-less chucker who can give you 20 points a night if you don't mind him shooting 35%. The liveblog is of the opinion that Julius Randle, who is not a chucker like Clarkson and who does do power forward things like rebound a lot, would have been a much better selection here. The liveblog is even more surprised when it considers how many 6-5 combo guards the Knicks already have on the roster that look an awful lot like Clarkson. The liveblog expects the Knicks to shop Clarkson hard and be disappointed when teams realize he is a chucker. The liveblog likes the word "chucker."

ACTION: The Bulls cut Ray McCallum
REACTION: The liveblog does not care. McCallum is garbage. The liveblog only mentions this for the sake of completeness.

ACTION: The Heat trade the #13 pick to the Hornets for the #20 pick and cash (points).
REACTION: The liveblog notes the Heat STILL haven't paid their luxury tax bill. The liveblog further notes the Heat don't have enough points yet to pay their tax bill. The liveblog sees that the Heat are $47 million over the cap this season and in line for an even more thermonuclear tax bill. The liveblog thinks that the Heat should be trying to move their big-contract players along with their draft picks or they are screwed. If the liveblog had a soul - which it doesn't - the liveblog might be concerned that this Heat squad bears an uncanny resemblance to the coltsguy Magic squad circa 2005 when they pushed all-in for a title and got chokeslammed by the luxury tax. The liveblog is not sure what it is feeling about the luxury tax and its uncaring coldness and ability to casually rip the hearts out of teams but based on the liveblog's understanding of human emotion, the liveblog thinks this might be true love.

ACTION: The Kings trade the #28 pick to the Wizards for cash (points).
REACTION: The liveblog is keenly aware that the Wizards' cap situation is much sunnier than the Heat's. The liveblog knows that is not saying much. The liveblog thinks the Wizards probably needed 10 points more than they needed a bench scrub.

ACTION: The Magic select Dario Saric with pick #7.
REACTION: The Magic touted this as "Super Dario" but the liveblog suspects this is Dario Sorry-I-Suck. Dario might turn into a nice rebounder for a small forward but the liveblog looks at mediocre skill across the board without overwhelming athleticism and sees a big bag of black Shandon Andersons.

ACTION: The 76ers trade Thomas Robinson to the Lakers for the #8 pick.
REACTION: Thomas Robinson is a true power forward that can rebound and defend but not score. The Lakers already have Embiid, Valancuinas, and Bynum who can fill that role and make a lot more money doing it. What Thomas Robinson cannot do is handle the ball or pass like a point guard. The liveblog thinks that's what the Lakers should have been chasing instead.

ACTION: The 76ers select Jusif Nurkic with pick #8.
REACTION: The liveblog cannot say "Nurkic" with a straight face. But the liveblog is pretty sure if TC gods don't smite, he will develop into a better PF than Thomas Robinson will.

ACTION: The Pistons picks get autosimmed and they add SG Rodney Hood and SF T.J. Warren with picks 9 and 10.
REACTION: Even the coldly rational liveblog thinks Anthony Davis deserves better. #DuncanGotLessHelp

ACTION: The Spurs trade picks 14 and 17 to the Grizzlies for the #11 and cash (points).
REACTION: The liveblog is confused. The liveblog thought the Grizzlies were trying to move one of Butler or Leonard. Apparently not. The liveblog notes the Grizzlies are fairly well set at every position except PG and there will be dubiously talented backup guards at the #14 and #17 spot. The liveblog assumes the Grizzlies know this and are setting themselves up for extra depth. The liveblog also assumes since all the backup guards are kind of the same guy, the Spurs must be after Julius Randle, the only true PF on the board worth a darn.

ACTION: The 76ers select Zach LaVine with pick 12.
REACTION: The Sixers needed a point guard so this does not surprise the liveblog. LaVine has superior athleticism to Smart but lacks many of Smart's skills. The liveblog thinks LaVine can be a great scoring off guard but will take extensive training to become a traditional 1. The liveblog thinks the 76ers needed offense more than a traditional PG though because they were explosive like diarrhea last year.

ACTION: The Hornets select Marcus Smart with pick 13.
REACTION: This probably means Lillard is about to become an undersized 2. The liveblog is tempted to make a joke about small ball but will refrain. For now.

Feels like this is a human problem, but diarrhea can be pretty explosive

ACTION: The Grizzlies select Elfrid Payton with pick 14.
REACTION: A point guard focused on ballhandling and defense with somewhat limitrd athleticism. The liveblog thinks that looks a lot like Eric Snow of about 18 years ago. Snow rather sucked. So will Elfrid.
