Cavs S71 Preseason Presser

Post by jlmarines » Mon Aug 12, 2024 9:30 am

Welcome to the Cavs Preseason Presser. We are pleased to welcome the league's best GM jlmarines.

GM jlmarines: Last season we finished the season on a disappointing note. We made it to the playoffs, however our defense struggle in the playoffs.

GM jlmarines: The good news SF Jonathan Isaac and SG Devin Vassell are back. Both, SF Isaac and SG Vassell have not lost a step. I expect both to play at an elite players. Isaac and Vassell will be playing with a chip on their shoulders. This offseason our priority was to sign veteran players that could provide immediate depth to our defense. Last season defense was our weakness.

GM jlmarines: UFA was quiet. We didn't bid too many free agents due to our limited cap space. Not all was bad. We signed C Josiah Blair. Blair brings alot of experience and is a great rebounder. We also signed SG/SF Brian Tyler. Tyler will provide immediate help the defensive side. We resigned SG/SF Armand Decroy . We are excited to have Decroy is back. Decroy will bring a much needed help on the defensive side.

GM jlmarines: We are very excited with our starting PG Joaquin Guzman "El Chapo" Loera. El Chapo once again had a great TC. Last season, Chapo averaged 10 assists per game. We think El Chapo is ready to take his game to an elite level. By the end of this season, everyone will know El Chapo. Depends how the season goes, we will be open for trades for potential defensive players.

GM jlmarines: We expect a solid year and here's are starting 5 for the current moment:

C: Gregory Kozak
PF: EJ Liddell
SF: Jonathan Isaac
SG: Devin Vassell
PG: El Chapo
6th: Darryl Laclair

Are you looking at potential defensive specialists for a trade like shot blockers or steals? Or just better overall perimeter/post defense players?

At this point I'll take any great defensive player. However, I prefer a better perimeter/post player. SF Isaac can score but he needs immediately help on the defensive side. Thank you for your question.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Devin Vassell looks to be a special player, but the window where he and Isaac's primes overlap might be slim. What can you do this season to maximize Vassell's full prime over the next 5 years?

Tom Critton, Twin Cities Tribune Coweekly:

With cap space being tight and having to make some tough decisions next season; would you consider this season to be must-win before a rebuild? Or do you think you'll shed or restructure some contracts to keep your core together?

I'm trying that's for sure. I'm bidding alot during UFA. Just been having bad luck. I think my next option is trading and upgrade my immediate roster. Thank you for the question.

For sure a must win. Don't be surprise if I do few trades this season. I will try to keep both Isaac and Vassell. That's the goal. Thank you for the question.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: how hard was it for you to not:
1. Mention the Celtics, Kings, or Grizz in your presser
2. Not have a WWE gif in your presser?

Pain. It was brought to my attention I'm a bully to Memphis and Boston fans. Will see how long it will last.
