Lately there's been plenty of talk about the parts of the current state of sim league, complete with big dustups in chats and all that. So, instead, sound off in this space with what you enjoy about sim league. You can use this time to discuss your favorite aspects of the game itself, or certain people that make it fun for you, or certain players you have, or anything else that you have going on that help you feel positively about this silly little game of ours.

Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers, which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.

Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.

Due: Sim 5 deadline.

My favorite aspect of this game is that I can incorporate people I know from real life and can talk nonsense to them. I have various people in my life now that are involved with this game, from different aspects of my life. So I can have about seven different conversations on how the Celtics are getting screwed in one day! Also, I have had several iterations of new people come in that I have mentored, that is always a fun experience to see them go through their first builds. This most recent is a great example. The Nuggets come in and are great almost immediately and you can tell they are enjoying that aspect. Where the Pels came in as shit, and are enjoying the long build (the way I have usually done my builds). So it’s always reenergizing when I get to see them experience things.

I also am now media coordinator, AND I TAKE THAT SERIOUSLY. It is a new aspect of the game I have not done before and enjoy being integral to keeping the league active, while also not being a detriment to the league at the same time. All from my Mac computer too!

Overall, I am still engaged with the league because I'm trying to field a win-now team. I have liked my builds the past few seasons and have learned a lot talking to GMs about gameplanning. I really like how far Kamari Brown and Remy Martin have developed their games over the past seasons too which keeps me interested to see how they fare against the league's best players. I really just enjoy a chance to try and win and hope to continue for many more seasons.

Even though it's taken a few seasons, and my team is far from being where I want it to be, it's really been a lot of fun taking over a team that needed to rebuild right away. I really have enjoyed seeing my team progress every season and look forward to see how far I can take this team. Even if the pistons will likely dominate for a couple more seasons, that's not gonna deter me from trying to compete with them.

Outside of my team, I really enjoy the concept of this sim league. Being able to be a pretend GM is a lot of fun and it's always interesting seeing all the moves other GMs make. As well as speaking with other GMs and getting their perspectives on this league. Besides my mentor Charlie, who has been incredibly helpful to me even thought I can be a pain in his ass sometimes, I want to give a shoutout to Mexican Mamba too. Every time we talk, mainly about trades, he's is always genuine in the discussion. He doesn't just try to get me to make a trade with him, he also gives me perspective on both sides of the trade.

@greepleairport and @cashcab are super fun to talk sim league with. The could not be more different in how they approach the league.

@cashcab is lazy and bitter... I'm not even 100% sure why. I think it because he missed his opportunity to go get Morelock, when he was a legit contender. He also hate that he trade away players like Daniel Johnson and Stanford Benfield to try and get better with Ron Harper Jr., to retain Amos, and than lost Amos anyway. (He's gotten more hesitate about trading since those trades.) Since learning about training and access to player pages, he has become obsessed with accumulating points.

@greepleairport cares about what the rest of the league think of him. I think it drive him crazy how many times I've stirred the pot in sim league. (nothing I do should reflect on @greepleairport ) He builds baller ass teams. He don't value rookies worth a damn. He's all about windows and balancing his team. We talk mad shit to each other but its all in good fun.

What they both have in common is they are both very good at evaluating talent can see who is going to be good before any games are played. @cashcab has called who is going to win the title for 4 or 5 years in a row. (Before the season starts - Lakers, Bulls, Pistons) The rockets are the last team that surprised him.

My favorite part of sim league RIGHT NOW is still the shocker of a trade @Mike Lowry pulled off. I still haven't talked to him about it (owe you a phone call bro). To learn that even the other dudes involved in the trade didn't know about it?! I need to know how it all went down. Hell, I should interview him about it and write it up because it smells like at least 3000 words.

Sim has challenged me this season because I'm not positioned as well as I would like and I don't have many places to go. A move here, a move there, none of them will move the needle.

So instead, I have found joy in friendship with a couple others I would never have met if it weren't for sim league. Behind the scenes, @Black Superman has been rockin' with me through my ups and downs of trying to buy a home. He brought me on his pod and helped me earn some points (and it was hella fun, too). The only thing that dude hasn't done for me lately is give me Xue for the few pennies I have left in my pocket.

ALSO, the guy I went ape shit on this week for a one word comment, @IamQuailman . We all rightfully have some beef here because of his Thanos team, but when he commented 'lame' and meant that it was lame I stole his player only to put him on the block, and I blasted his ass, all he did was DM and say 'yo, everything good dude?' And the answer was no. I was not good. I was having a terrible no good very bad day, and he let me vent on it until I felt better and could make dick jokes again.

Respectfully to everyone, these are not the kinds of friendships I expected to gain from sim league, yet here we are. What a strange SLOE world...

My absolute favorite thing going right now is Maxwell Lewis. This guy is keeping the interest in this league for me. I didn't draft Lewis but I did trade for him in his rookie season. All he knows is Phoenix. He keeps me pushing forward. Definitely my second favorite sun all time behind Ronny asher. But Lewis has a chance to take that crown.

My favorite thing going with the league right now is..... Nothing. The season is boring. Outside of an exciting day 60, I don't expect anything else noteworthy will happen the rest of the season. We're all waiting to see if the pistons allow us to play the sim next year or if we're still going to be held at their mercy.

My favorite people in the sim right now are greeple and garbageman. I talk to both pretty frequent and about non sim things.

My favorite color? Blue
My favorite car? Jaguar
My favorite animal? Jaguar
My favorite food? Lasagna
My favorite porn? Oh wait....

I think the thing I enjoy most about sim league is that it's kind of a constant tending to a team to keep growing its history and legacy. While the rules may change and situations within the game might change, I like that strategy has to work on so many levels so that you put your team in a good position for both short term and long term. It's like one of those real zen-like hobbies like artistic hedge trimming or something, only without as much zen and more people swearing at each other. I like how it can expand to fill the gaps in time, whether you want to just have a quick trade chat to fill up 10 minutes of downtime or you want to take a deep dive into stats or article writing as something to do on a night where nothing else is going and there's nothing on the tube.

I still enjoy the trade game, especially when the market is popping. I still like building good teams and using different methods to do so. Currently, I enjoy Trayce Jackson-Davis and Jody Kinsella and hope to fully build around their full primes in short order. I enjoy the relationships I've built, though since giving up commissioner responsibilities, I admittedly dont have as many deep sim conversations as I did. I like when I see the lightbuld flip on for newer GMs and their level of success grows. Hell, swing or miss, I enjoy the newer folks being aggressive in general. I don't do articles with as much juice as I used to either, but when I get a solid idea it feels nice to get the creative juices flowing.

I like talking strategy with AngryBanana.

I like watching jlmarines try to compete and lose.

I like watching SuperDog never try to compete and win.

Overall, I just enjoy getting a chance to spend a few minutes with my buddies every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday when the clock hits 1700 somewhere to talk about the latest and greatest with sim league. I have achieved everything I wanted to do in PBSL so now I just can sit back and dick around with my pals and watch the sim world burn. I'm glad we have all stuck around all these years because it is always a nice distraction from real life, especially while we wait for our fantasy football league to start again.

Sim League definitely makes my M/W/F more interesting. With having to do town halls, Pick-ems, randomly thinking about memes, and the general hype around Sim Day. Then seeing the group chat go off when something crazy happens like someone breaks there leg, or just having discussions with my mentor and friends about the results of the sim.

It's also great to meet a bunch of new people, some of whom are actually in the same city. So hopefully will get to meet up in person sometime and further chat about sim league stuff.

This league also gives you back what you put into it. I admit I could be way more involved with following every trade that happens or reading every single post, but for now I am enjoying still learning the ropes and figuring out what I want my teams path forward to be.

I recently came back from a long hiatus to SLOE. I was nervous coming back because I still had memories of being burnt out by people through this league. Since returning, I haven't been the most involved owner. Recently, I've been trying to be more of an active owner. And that is the greatest thing about SIM league. What you put in is what you get out. If you only care about offseason and playoffs, perfect. If you care about putting in research multiple times a day everyday, perfect.

The chat is a great way to keep up with SLOE between sims. It includes all of the bickering, but it also includes things going on in people's lives. And of course blaming Doug.

At the end of the day, the best thing about Sim league is the people that are here. And Charley Quick.

I love how the strategy aspect of the league runs into the personalities. It gives me a challenge that involves mastering a very unpredictable (from my perspective) software program by negotiating with my competition. And the more important aspect is the personal side. My recent trade is a great example.
I know that K100 and Black Superman understand that they sent me more value than I returned. People might make the argument that Newland for Plowden and Schoenfeld is closer to equal, but I am absolutely sure that better offers have been made for Newland up to now. I don't care to look into his trade history, but I have just valued him as a talent for some time now, and I know others have too. And it's not that those teams are tanking or quitting, even though some of them mention it more than my liking, they just took swings at it, and feel they will come up short, so they made a business decision. That business decision however, involves a real desire to have a champion to challenge the Pistons. I like all the articles that point towards collusion because many people were complicit in building the Pistons team. Playing this game at a high level appears to involve social

I really enjoy the friendships I've made in the league, and all the stuff that comes with the league. Trade talks, silly chat banter, real life friends of over 10+ years now, entertainment, and so much more i can't think of. I don't want to name out people because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings leaving them out. But I really do enjoy getting to know all yall more over time!

As for collusion and people being complicit, I'm thankful for the Bulls sending me Markannen way back, Darth/Chad sending me Carrasco, Eazy sending me Hoyt, Dawes & PeeWee (seasons apart of course), Nick sending me Ware & SVG, @Black Superman sending me Marotta... and everyone else who helped me get to this point. Roster construction is a big part of team building, and you are some of the mortar that helped hold these bricks together, baby!

Lastly looking forward to that Charlie Quick trade coming soon...!
